Hi everyone, I just want to ask all those who own a 2.5L VGT Montero sport if you've encountered excessive smoke belching? I already saw 2 units without license plates with excessive smoke. One unit had emitted REALLY black smoke under hard acceleration, even worst than buses that I've seen in Edsa. In fact, a lot of bystanders looked surprised by the excessive smoke. The car in front of me had to stop because visibility was really affected by the smoke. Today, I saw another one in front of me which also has a significant amount of black smoke coming out of its tailpipes. not as bad as the other one that I saw, but enough to make people wonder why such a new car emits black smoke. I never had such problem with my older 3.2 SE. Do you think anything is wrong with these units?

Good day everyone, i'm not sure if this has already been discussed in this thread but do you notice a tilt towards the driver side when you look at your monty from the rear and if you measure the clearance of the rear tire to the fender/wheel well, there is about an inch of discrepancy (the right rear clearance being wider than the left-driver side while there are no passengers in the vehicle) though i notice this when the vehicle is on a standstill or parked but when i see other monties on the road (while moving) pantay naman (hoping mine is as well). it is pretty annoying and i have 3 friends who agree with me with their own units (2010 and 2011, mine being 2009) to the point that one of my friends randomly measured a monty in their condo parking lot and found the same discrepancy.

i notice this also but the monties i see emitting this much smoke are the ones accelerating hard. i also have a 3.2 SE and when i accelerate hard (i.e. going up a flyover) and look at my rearview, i can see more than the usual amount of smoke.

been seeing this problem with "uneven ride height" with the stradas, does it affect the monties as well? not sure if discussed already. driver side is definitely lower than the passenger side. noticed it after changing my stock wheels with 20's but since 09, nothing done on the suspension so i'm not sure if mas napansin lang after the wheel change or something.

stock front driver side wheel well of my 2009 monty has lesser clearance (about 1/2 to 3/4 inch) than the passenger side. after replacing the shocks and coil springs on all fours (using lift kit), the same stance pa rin.

this uneven ride height is very common to strada as well

Yung seatbelt anchor natin madali lang tanggalin yung plastic cover, ang mahirap lang eh kelangan tanggal yung seat before mo matanggal yung assembly, sasayad sa center console pag pinilit

think common naman yan for diesel engines even crdi/vgt pa basta you accelerate hard...

Nagdiy na lang ng wires para mag act as switch.
May moving part sa likod yan so madali lang siya gawin. Btw i made a reconnection of the buzzer with the handbrake. When it is disengaged, and not wearing seat belt, dun pa lang siya mag alarm. So sa start up, wala pang buzzer

KH4's(high powered 2.5 crdi VGT) are built euro IV compliant, so if you will not undergo a reprogram, you should use a euro IV or V, if not, yan ang result, heavy black smoke. 3.2 SE are euro II so walang problema even sa big 3 diesels na euro II lang din. Pero sa mga vgts, when sa big three ka nagpapakarga, medyo heavy smoking talaga plus medyo matindi ang smoke odor

If you will backread sa thread ng monty 2012 I noted that after my 5K PMS na nagkataon na nagpalit din ako ng diesel from Shell to seaoil, nagjejerk yng monty and nagsmoke belching. Had doubts if naoil change yung monty and even speculated na baka may napalitan na parts sa casa or baka naman sa diesel talaga (heard that seaoil is not selling euro V diesel anymore). Balik Shell and nag DIY oilchange ako; nawala excessive smoke kaso yng jerking moments nya nawala bago ko nagoil change. 7 liters linagay ko, but read here na masama maoverfill yung oil (6.4L lng per manual and that's using oem filter gamit ko baldwin which is physically smaller), so using a french 8 feeding tube and a 10cc syringe nagbawas ako ng engine oil through sa oil dipstick (600cc). The next morning bumalik yung jerking moments nya and nagsmoke belch na naman. Currently nawala na jerking episodes nya pero mas mausok pa din. Then it occured to me na nung 1K PMS ko 8L ng oil dinala ko pero 7L lng linagay, so nung 5K PMS at a different casa 7L lng dala ko, kaso di ko alam kng ilan linagay nila. Currently contemplating to add another 600 cc ng engine oil para lng malaman ko kung totoo yung sapantaha ko but decided to observe it further.

have you tried using unioil? their diesel is euro-IV

Never had a problem naman with seaoil since july 2011. ganyan pa din behaviour nung gtv ko even on hard acceleration, meron man(which is normal to diesel) eh hindi naman heavy black smoke

Seaoil din gamit ko na diesel. though hindi naman MS car ko. pero mas malinis ito nung nag drain ako ng fuel tank.

butchy boy, try to drain your fuel tank baka madumi or may tubig tank mo. and try to replace fuel filter.

Nakahingi ako ng glass etching cream sa ka officemate, tapos nagpagawa lang ako stencil sa stickerworks(sm san lazaro), madali lang paglalagay, in 20 minutes tapos, kasama na paglalAgay ng stencil and removal pati pagwash nung mirror
