i test drove my aunt's sta fe before i sprang for the montero. nice but parang weird ang interior plastics, which gave a less-than-satisfactory seat-of-your-pants driving experience. also, i'm not so into the exterior looks even when it was introduced. i don't know why pero parang i just couldn't get the design. which is why i'm hoping the next gen will have the nice tucson-like design. time to retire my wife's innova (sana i can sell it at a good price -- pandagdag sa downpayment).

2013 pa? that's too long. maganda siguro bumili next year, year of the dragon kasi.

BTT: very happy with the montero's looks, performance and FC although nakakapanghinayang ang cruise control ng 2012 model. and parang sobrang dami na ng montero sa kalye. not a bad thing really (more units on the streets = mas maraming magpapasok ng spare parts and accessories) except that sa mall parking lot, its becoming increasingly difficult to find your car.

    vehicle looks are very subjective

until now, i still do not like the exterior look of the sta fe. more so the interior. the cx-7 looks way much better, both in and out

but, for me, the monty tops them both in terms of balance in the look and flow of the design

you're the cx-7 type of person pala. the cx-7 design is not for everyone. very polarizing. to me, it follows the X6 design philosophy: a big sedan. its really like a lifted sedan, especially inside. test drove it too before going for the montero. very very car like, which might appeal to many people actually. my wife actually likes the cx-7 and was voting for it (very nice supple ride, closest to the sport-luxury paradigm), but the FC did it for me. to my mind, a gas-guzzler is like opening my wallet for the oil companies. not worth it, unless its a sunday car.

the tucson really looks nice. very contemporary though (read: not a keeper) but its got curves in all the right places. now, if only the sta fe shared the same design mantra...

i really like the montero but design-wise, its a mishmash of the strada and the fusion. the design is very benign, which means "safe" and bordering on bland/boring. but its a great truck, and drives really well. engine is very responsive, ride is comfortable, interior space is just right (looks bigger inside than its exterior dimensions suggest), FC is amazing, and the aircon is perfect for the philippine weather. i don't see it's design getting old very soon, mainly because it already looks pretty old to begin with. wish mitsubishi took some risks with it, like how the current pajero looks bold. regardless, i'm very satisfied with this truck and i'd buy it again if i was in the market for a new truck.

what i don't like is the heavy steering. everytime i use the other truck, i am reminded how heavy the montero's steering is. other than that, i'm a jolly happy camper. this truck's sturdiness is awesome. i don't even watch out for potholes anymore as the montero soaks it up really well. i know i'm going to pay dearly for this wanton disregard someday but this truck spoils the driver.

napahaba ang post ko. medyo maluwag kasi sked.

maybe matagal na rin kasi ang Santa Fe sa market compared sa CX-7. Of course mas inclined tayo sa newer looks.

while it was introduced in the philippine only in 2010, the cx-7 was out since 2007, if i am not mistaken.

the design has remained the same since then except with very minor cosmetic changes (like the foglamps)

anyway, back to the monty, i just like its balanced looks

and, the narrower width compared to the other SUVs is a big plus considering our small roads and equally small building parking areas. the nice turning radius is a big plus also

Madali kasi lumutong ang wiper blades sa init na mina-magnify ng windshield kaya madali lumutong.

pwedeng ipolish yan ng detailing shop like big bert's. will pay a visit there kasi I got my windshield scratched also. Had the same problem with the juddering wipers, then ako naman, thought na need ng rubbing ang windshield, tapos ayun puro gasgas after ko pina rubbing sa may banawe. bwiset tlaga.

PS: to experts: tama naman po na ipolish para mawala ang mga scratches db?

They check the washer fluid and they said its the washer fluid thats causing the problem(original fluid from the dealer). They said the fluid have to be drained. Sabi nila, the only way to drain this is to use them on the windshield. I dont know myself if the washer container has a drain. So they drained it on my windshield, for about less than an hour. Before that, i travelled about 40 km with some dusty road, so theres got to have some road particles on my windshield. So, after they drained and changed the washer fluid to pure and clean water, i drove home. The next day, I found tiny scratches. Scratches that you cannot feel with your fingers, can only be visible on an angle with a help of a flashlight. These scratches are located in the maximum position of the 2 blades when moving.
Though this is not much of a hinder when driving, i would rather have a scratch free windshield. I know I should replace my wiper, but I also need to tell this to my dealer right? Did you guys have a problem like this? Can these small scratches be removed and anybody knows how? Is windshield replacement safe? I mean will they be able to install it like in the factory?
Thanks for reading a very long comment. lolz had to be explained. Thanks.

Ok Sir. Please let me know about the result. I know how frustrating those scratches are... Thats why I sometimes back away from the car when I see small irritating problems, baka mapasama pa. lolz until i figure out what to do, then i will try to do something.

BTW i already changed my wiper to Bosch Aerotwin Blade. Its better!

I donot have the wiper stand, bibili pa lang, what i normally do is tinataas ko lang wiper ko.

May gusto lang ako i-share which I recently discovered which got me a bit curious about the sudden acceleration thing kung hindi pa man nagsasawa ang karamihan sa issue...hehehe...

Couple of days ago i had to get something from the grocery and parked my monty for a couple of minutes just outside the store. I went back, push the unlock button on the key to open the door. I entered my car and tried to switch on the ignition but nothing. Another try and again, nothing.

I looked down and saw that i left the transmission lever to "D", as in Drive my friends, and the car would not turn-on, not even a sound...i guess i can take the issue to rest off my head now...hahaha...just sharing...
