you are correct sir, hand nails are not made of stone, but if someone's finger has a metal inserted on it called a ring, especially when a stone called diamond is embedded on it, it will trully hurt and scratch the paint near your car's door handle. IMHO

I could not imagine the way how, may be they do clinch their fest with a full grasp of their fingers on the handle to open a car door, then that would be the time diamond touches to the paint, in that case it is not a montero's door, since they exert more effort for openning a door. peace bro!

Usually when we open car's door it is easy, as thumb pressesing the key notch and almost the tip of our four fingers tuoches to the handle.

Besides, car doors of the latest model don't need a key to open, so there's no way metal key holders to bump the painted skin.

Sorry Quartzbro; I missed your earlier post

There is a certain amount of wear and tear on all cars; and the area behind the door handle oftentimes does suffer light scratching. But why put chrome there; which in my honest opinion looks cheap and 'naff'. If one is so concerned about the possiblity of this scratching, why not put some other 'invisible' product instead.

No need to say sorry sir, for I assumed we are all liberated minded who are exchaging ideas here in this thread, we ourselves has the right to give weight either to take or reject all these pros and cons .

no problem bro, I don't either put a chrome garnish behind the door handle of my car just because I don't like it too. I am just pointing out the use of that garnish to other car owners and I respect their decision in putting it there to protect their car from scratches. sorry guys for the OT. Cheers.

then putting xpel clear shield is better than putting a chrome cover which in time would accumulate grime.

I agree! its not visible unless you really look at it carefully, its like 30 light scratches due to our fingernails sometime. Instead of chrome put xpel shield.

For some reasons I hate chrome etch as well It makes car look cheap. Sorry to those chrome fans out there. Plain and simple would do. Save the money instead for future better expense.

Nay QUARTZBRO; am not sorry for my comments at all. I am sorry that I missed your reply post and failed to reply.

As for the chrome around the tailights; IMHO this makes a class car look naff and cheap, and looks like it was got from a lucky bag.

One of the European equivelents of wallmart, Lidl, used to sell a roll of stick-on chrome for a few Euros that looks similar to that I have seen on some Monteros (being prepared in Casas).

I know I may be upsetting a few users here, but I am being honest, and most people would consider it in bad taste too.

But everyone to their own taste ......

Afterall some guys still go around wearing elephant flares or bell bottom trousers.

Chrome accessories looks good on pyranese black, but look awkward in sedona reds, blue and sometimes in white. There are non OEM chrome accessories that are of poor workmanship and really looks bad no matter what monty color it was installed.

Just got pulled over by High Way Patrol Group... My CASA did not gave me Conduction Permit (i have no idea about this) so in the end my Driver's License was confiscated. All I have was Official Receipt, Sales invoice and Delivery Invoice. Totally ruined my day...

Called up my SA and she went to the scene. Told me they (CASA) will be the one to retrieve my DL first thing in the morning at LTO.

Altimeter doesnt seem to be working. Stays ZERO always. what about yours?

No offence glenn, but IMHO it looks even worse on a black MS, because it's contrast stands out even more. Akong asawa ug ako were sa Casa last september, and there was a 3.2 SE with lovely 20" shoes being prepared for anew owner. The side view looked great except for the out of place chrome door handle insets. Then we saw the back (with extra chrome around tailights) and our face fell to the ground. Even the SA thought it looked naff, but said some people still think it looks cool. Then around to the front, one half was done in extra chrome around the headlights for an example for the new owner to see.

Overall it I felt it made a new expensive and classy looking car look like a cheap repainted dolled up 90s car. All my opinion, and I am not so young.

^ i'm here in the visayas province bro. hot kasi dito kasi one of our LTO official is included in the carnapping syndicate as posted in the Inquirer.

i hope my CASA fix this one before lunch 2mrw. It was there fault in the first place not giving me a conduction permit. oh well. Just a minor bump in the road for monty and me.

    Is your altimeter working?
