so it would appear,
there's really no reliable way to say what the doctor is actually prescribing in his prescription pad that he hands over to his patient.
all these drug companies can determine, is whether their drugs are selling or not, but not which doctors are "friendly" and which are not.

its easier in provinces where the clinic has a pharmacy beside it (usually owned/managed by the doctor's relative)
but in Metro Manila, there's always a risk of 1 doctor prescribing the medicine in Makati then the patient buys it from QC
biggest problem of med-reps right now is the rise of generic drugs.
even some Mercury Staff would ask customers if they want to purchase the actual brand prescribed or if they will prefer the cheaper generic drug.
If i remember correctly. The Generics Law mandates that doctors include the generic name of the drug in their prescriptions (If applicable/available). Not sure if it was also in that law that the Pharmacist should offer the generic equivalent if the doctors prescribes a specific brand.
As far as I as can remember, my sister-doctor used to received free hotel accommodations from medreps...maybe that's one reason a doctor would recommend a particular brand..I am not sure.

Good suggestion doc.
Will do this next time.
Na experience ko eto dati, especially if ang purpose mo lang is to get doctor's interpretation sa lab results and recommendation.
Imbes pumila ng 10AM, nauna nga sa pila pero yung doctor dumating sa clinic mga 2PM na.
Ibang doctor (anak ng designated doctor sa clinic) yung nag asikaso sa amin.
reading lab results is easy. with the right codigo, anyone can see what results are normal, what are higher than normal, what are lower than normal.
but it is what the doctor says afterward, that interests me so.
sinabi mo! see post # 116 above.
"there is a fine grey line between telling all the facts, and sensationalism. and sometimes, the reader don't know how to differentiate the two."
heh heh.
an old teacher used to say,
"the lab results are not for the patient or bantay. they're for the physician."
we once had a patient who apparently had only a mild illness.
if we looked at the labs, individually, it seemed like a mild nonspecific something, certainly not something worthy of serious hospitalization.
but when we put together all of them labs, it became apparent to the trained eye, that the patient was literally deathly sick to the bone.

Blood chemistry will only support or confirm what a doctor will initially diagnose you with.
Blood chem is not a true tell sign of any specific diseases.
Priority nila admission kasi barya lang pala consultation. I was shocked kasi cardio ko P1500 ata consult, pero sa admission, twice lang namin nakita, both less than 10 mins pero P25k (hindi pa siya attending, for cardio clearance lang)
