Based on movies, tv shows, and comedy skits ... seems like it's the same elsewhere ...

And I would think bread and butter nf mga doctors ang clinic consultation.

If they have 20 lang na patients with ₱1k * sa fee then that's easily ₱20k per day with no tax dahil hinde naman nag issue ng official receipt mga yan.

Dami pa nila regalo food from patients. I have a doctor cousin, weekly dinadala food sa house ng parents niya because there's just too much.

You also have to consider how many patients arrived earlier. And the length of consultation depends on the condition of the patient.

Naalala ko noon pumupunta kami sa QC para sa pedia dentist. Akyat na sa building wife and son ko kasi paparada pa ako. Nag-message wife ko wag na daw ako pumarada kasi tapos na sila. P1K+ agad. Pakonswelo ung walang waiting time.

    so i inquire,
why remain loyal to the particular doctor, when you already know his waiting habits are horrible?
why not shift to another doctor?

I usually go to my cardio doctor very early or very late. 1 hour before or 2 hours after start of clinic hours. That way medyo bawas ang waiting time.

There's an ortho doc at MMC who starts at 7AM. If you arrive early, tatawagin ka na agad kahit 6:45 pa lang. So by 7 pauwi ka na. Madali pa magpark that early.

In a way, we should consider ourselves fortunate pa rin dito sa `Pinas.

In some countries (UK), pahirapan makakuha ng appointment, and sa primary care doc (General Practitioner) pa lang yun. Bihira ka makakuha ng specialist agad without referral from a GP's clinic muna.

I remember my first "appointment" in Singapore - Singapore General, I had to wait 2 months (foreigner daw kasi plus they do not feel na my case is urgent)

Later I learned... Mount Elizabeth (Orchard) - quick appointments, doctor is always on time (di ko lang maintindihan why the doctor thinks I'm from Indonesia - di ba pwedeng Taiwan? ako lang daw kasi patient nya from Philippines)

so discarding the "promptness factor", how would you generally compare singapore doctors to the homegrown ones? are they more knowledgeable? more engaging? have better bedside manners?

My mom has a doctor from Mt Elizabeth as well

Doctor is very good and did the blood work immediately then and there unlike here where the doctor will write a prescription then the patient would have to visit the hospital again. I would say he is comparable to a very good doctor in Makati Med/St Lukes but is less hamstrung by procedures. We just wanted to get a second opinion from a different source because were aware that the doctors for that specialty know each other at that level.

From friends and relatives who have went to SG for medical consults, doctors in SG prescribe lesser medicines than PH doctors.

what I've noticed is that they are not afraid to study.
tapos very confident sila sa use of technology

with my mom's case, 1 doctor in QC was ready to operate on her holding 1 MRI pa lang.
yung Cardinal Santos doctor asked her to do a more advanced MRI plus a PET Scan before deciding on the next procedure.

As for my Mount E doctor, he is licensed to work in All Commonwealth countries and S. Korea.

Yung GP doctor dati beside our office left for the UK for his studies din.

    i wonder,

would the patient be happy when his doctor prescribes non-branded medicines and not the "high-fallutin" branded names ?
how would the patient feel, if his doctor prescribed him medicines that he actually sees being advertised on TV ? some of these preparations actually work as advertised, cheaper pa!

how does "drink a lot of water" sound, versus price-y mucus dissolving medicine ?

would the patient happily pay for half a dozen laboratory te$t$ for justin case, in lieu of only a couple of really-required tests ?

in recent years, the potential threat (potential na, threat pa!) of malpractice / lawsuit, has beehoved some medical practitioners to require the patient considerably more tests.
the problem is a vicious cycle, and i can not begin to point at the offending agent.

doctors' practices depend significantly on the doctor's training background... public hospital training exposure versus private hospital training exposure...

some doctors will treat the root problem, and expect the rest of the associated problems to follow suit and disappear.
other doctors will prescribe medication for specific symptoms, shotgun-style.
so which approach will the patient prefer?

I have an aunt also who was treated in Singapore because her doctors overmedicated her while previously when she was being treated here. They said that the cost wasnt much different compared to what the costs that she could have incurred here.
