    Just reminiscing......

When my dad first crossed the equator while he was still in the navy, he went through a ceremony called Order of Neptune. He said it was fun, if a bit messy.

When I crossed the equator, it was in the jungle, hot, wet, lots of bugs, it stunk, and I was miserable. No baths, no toilet, and we kept quiet so as not to attract unwanted attention. My feet smelled like decomposing flesh and cheese.

The IDL? Nah. I crossed it multiple times. Usually, upon crossing the IDL, the flight attendants start serving a mid-route meal, normally, breakfast. I skip it so as not to use the toilet too much.

I crossed the Equator while in Colombia. I wasn't alone although I was the only weather guy in the group. They needed someone who can take weather observations and I was it.

Weather forecasting... I like it bro.. Though screw up big time before.. How was it in your time facs or the normal feed by US weather stations.. By the way so many weather forecasters in PAGASA now opted to work in US.. Due to demand and of course money talks..

On most regular weather stations (both military and civilian), we sent hourly observations plus as many SPECI observations as required when there is significant weather, using the METAR format.

We also did chart/model analysis and piped them out to all clients, including those deployed elsewhere.

Out in the sticks, we also had to know grid coordinates and encryption in addition to METAR. Although we received the analysis products above, we can do it on our own if needed. A printout and a pencil was all I needed to do my own analysis.

It was better to do a local analysis because we had additional weather data not accessible except locally. We were able to generate local analysis charts that explained why we were getting downpours that the less detailed maps from outside cannot.

Me? I don't give a crap about politics there (or even here). But, I have to tiptoe carefully in FB and tread in the middle.
You have to choose a side. The universe and God for that matter doesnt like people who stay in the middle.

Nah. I do my own thing. They don't like it? Here's my one-finger salute. Take it or leave it. When it comes to people I care about, they usually choose take it because they know me well enough. The rest, I couldn't care less.

Who goes to the gym on a Friday evening? The over-50 crowd. That's who. Actually, it's more like the over-70 crowd.

That's how it is in Japan.. You'll look stupid if you block the other side.. Most of the people there are like always trying to catch their train schedule...

If the escalators are not wide enough to allow two people to stand side by side on each step (along with shopping bags), you're not supposed to walk up unless there's no one ahead of you. The risk of someone falling and the escalator steps catching into a loose piece of clothing would be too great.

The vast majority of escalators I've seen here are the narrow ones. Not enough room for two people side by side.

I had 2 ophthalmologist last 3 months. And every time I'll ask them Kung gagaling pa mata ko, laging sagot nila eh "hindi pa natin alam."

I've read that eye problems of diabetics are usually irreversible. Although some get their vision better but not 100%.

I was thinking, is the spill "di pa natin alam" are only used by doctors like ophthalmologist? or all doctors?
