I always take a side: mine. I prefer to do my own thing as much as possible. Call it selfish. But, that's what I am.

They (my loved ones) understand I'm not very political. Hell. I don't care much for this year's presidential elections here. What more with politics abroad? I understand who has done me good and for that, I'll show my appreciation.

As for this forum.... I just shrug things off. There's nothing here worth getting steamed over.

When I was there, I was told, "If the North Koreans attack, consider yourself dead or a POW. With their tunnels, we'll be cut off and getting shot at from both front and behind."

buffer for what?

A buffer against a hostile force...in this case, the evil capitalist West/South Korea/US.

Basically, you sorround yourself with buffer states; should a hostile force attempts invasion, the battle will be fought and won in the buffer states, not in your territory. Buffer state gets devastated by war, while your country remains relatively unscathed.

Same reason why Russia is trying to hold on to former Soviet states.

Mental note......

I need to disappear this evening. So, I'll go to the gym late. The wife's friends will be here this evening for a lumpia-wrapping session. That means no peace and quiet for a few hours.

I have the guest bedroom which doubles as my man cave/den. I'm waiting for my eldest kid to move out. But, she seems to be in no hurry.

The house has outstanding soundproofing that deadens sound from outside. Even a Harley Davidson bike passing by is barely audible. It's the same with the walls inside. But, the cackle from the kitchen passes right through the door.

Crap. I forgot......

They'll have their kids with them. It'll be a madhouse. My kids will love it.
