The elements of old Filipino architecture once designed for natural ventilation & siestas is a good option against floods & typhoons.
However the "silongs" has a stigma. To most Filipinos, stilt houses belong to the past.

definitely!
but maybe stilt the garage also...

against typhoons with strong wind?
i'm not sure...
maybe if it were more aerodynamic and/or sturdy?
