Getting slightly off topic: This story sounds iffy for me, like we're not getting the whole story. Baka naman medyo unusual yung kurso niya(.e.g not accounting, business admin, engg, etc.)? Baka me problema sa personality? i know this guy back in college who graduated with an engineering(?) course, pero consider this: he infected a whole computer lab with a virus to get revenge for getting his diskette infected; he knocked on our university's IT Center, asking where he can learn how to make a virus![]()
Would you hire him? :D
i know a lot of people who only know basic arithmetic who are getting by, or at least are not being palaboy. If he's given up, then that's his choice; then his parent's sacrifice truly was in vain.
Getting slightly back to topic: me kwento dati yung isang professor sa amin on how he became known as a terror: a group of students from an "IT" school took up the Master's course at my university; they were all cocky and smart-assed, saying that "alam na namin yan" when the professor started discussing. The problem now is that, aside from being really smart, me pagka gago din yung professor. So they made the exams excruciatingly hard, and by the end of the term only a handful were left to finish the course. Their summa cum laude only got a passing score.
My point? It's not just the diploma, it's also matters where that diploma came from. It's good to be summa cum laude, but each and every college and university also has its summa cum laudes. And not all summa cum laudes are equal.
