By the way, a 1500 rpm is close to normal idle around +/- 1000rpm. So there is really no problem of having to step on the accelerator and break all at once. You can step on the accelerator or break pedals vice versa. No need to step both. The key is playing with your accelerator and maintain your rpm as possible. Be wary of your tachometer. not realy a pro but am just sharing what i've learned in the 4x4clinics and water fording situations from the 4x4gurus. Hope this helps.

[QUOTE=mikaztro]As much as possible avoid the often flooded streets of Metro.
Things to remember when fording high waters:
3. The higher your rpm, the higher risk you stall. (radiator breakage due to shattered fan blade, fan breakage, electronic breakdown due to splash of water; air filter-intake water seapage).

thanks for the tip guys.
been doing it all wrong it seems... hehehe... used to play with the clutch while fording really deep waters.

Simple answer... huwag!
Other vehicles have better fording capabilities. Meron nga kasama sa brochure yung water level hehe.
Ang question ko pala is, bakit bawal mag clutch? Hindi ba sealed ang tranny?Last edited by the_wildthing; June 1st, 2005 at 04:12 PM.

assess how high the water is by observing other vechicles in front of you. if you think it's low enough then proceed slowly making sure there's big enough gap between you and the vehicle in front but making sure you're not too far behind that you can't take advantage of the wake he/she made.
streets are usually inclined away from the center island (ie. they're inclined towards the banketa) so make sure you're in the leftmost lane. PERO if you observe that most cars are concentrated sa certain lane then follow them
sabi nga sa isang previous post, "as slow as possible and as fast as possible". drive at a slow constant speed (1st gear lang usually). avoid using the clutch pero if kailangan talaga then shift as fast as possible.
after leaving the flooded area pump the brakes to dry them off while driving.
afaik indi na kailangang magrev.
Choice I would have made as well.
