Hindi papasok ang tubig sa tambutso kahit naka 1000rpm ka as long as wag lang mabasa ang sparkplugs or pasukan ng tubig ang air intake--kasi sigurado mag stall vehicle mo at saka papasok ang tubig sa tambutso. :D
kahit nasa baha ka and medyo traffic, you can stay a little above 1000rpm just to maintain engine running.

Mazda mazda, yes you can shift your gear in neutral while waiting for the go signal to proceed in deep flood. Then shift fast to 1st gear when green and don't step/play on the clutch. Proceed with caution.

June 1st, 2005 03:31 PM #24Just a bit confuse here. Some say we need to maintain 1500rpm while crossing baha, means the higher the rpm, the faster the car is. While opening the clutch is not advisable, then how to control the speed without controlling via clutch. puwede ba mag neutral just to maintain the rpm? papano pag mabagal yung nasa unahan mo? or puwede ba reeving at 1500 while braking?...ngeekkk...papano yun?

maintain 1500 rpm with the clutch fully engaged. mabagal lang naman yung takbo na yun.
the photo of a pajero idling in water im talking about was parked, not moving like in the pics mikaztro posted. hehe
mazdamazda,
kung ganyan kalalim yung tubig that you worry about your clutch at napahinto ka, (hehe), magdasal ka nalang, baka pumasok sa loob yung tubig at kung saan saan hehehe. but i think the best thing to do is to pop the tranny into neutral

How about in A/T? Any tips when forging into deep floods? Also do you need to have your brakes cleaned after?

Yes you can cross flood in 1500rpm. Really depends on the situation say you need to put higher rpms in situations that arises. You can play your rpm by tipping in/out your accelerator and not stepping on your clutch. For sudden stop, of course you need to shift to neutral in order for you not to stall. Shifting quickly or avoiding the use of clutch is a must.
Remember, "As slow as possible as fast as necessary"

what i do is to shift second or first gear at constant acceleration before going into a flooded street. no need to speed up just go slowly. i never stop. di ko inaapakan ang clutch. syempre bago ko gawin ito sinisigurado ko na malayo agwat namin nung naunang sasakyan just in case di ako maka-preno dahil basa na yung breaks.
