I concur, original paint finish is still the best. That's the reason why it's important to learn how to keep the car paint's condition in top shape. Proper car washing, simple detailing and waxing, even just knowing where to park your car (e.g. avoid trees sap, bird poo) are essential know-hows.
Film protection can be an overkill for protecting a ₱1M-3M priced vehicles. For supercars, definitely it's a must but for M3s, probably too much. For those who can burn a lot of money, good for them [emoji16]
I'd love to have a coat for my M3R but:
- It's expensive
- It takes a long time to finish
- The shops are too far from my location (they offer home service but I don't have space nor cover)
- It takes the joy out of personally taking care of the car
Do you personally wax your car? What off-the-shelf brand/s do you recommend?
Hi po,
Hihingi lang po ng advice. Im planning to buy my 1st car. Preffer ko Mazda 3 or honda city. Pero may nabasa ako na malakas daw po sa gas mazda 3. Tsaka mahirap daw po maintenance after ng warranty. Correct me if im wrong. Please help me decide.
Thank you in advance po.
You can't compare the previous gen Mazdas w/ MZR engines. Those are thirsty. The current Skyactivs are among the most fuel efficient cars around.....& they did not need to go CVT to get great FC figures. Can't go wrong w/ the current lineup. [emoji4]

I'd rather have a car remain dirty til my next available DIY downtime than get someone unfamiliar w/ my personal wash methods do it...just to have 1 that's constantly shower fresh. Swirls actually are irreversible. Correction entails rub & buff which are essentially coat thinning. Proper methods are more vital than the products you opt. I just use what's common out there.... Mothers, Meguiar's, Microtex, Turtle, etc.
Paint Protection? It's more about paint correction & prep than coating. This process takes time & an OCD eye. If only Tech Details were in my region....I personally know & trust the guy behind, met him way back before the shop was conceived. He's more about passion, dedication & hands-on attention than biz. A dying breed. He takes care of cars like they were his & has a Kodo 3 himself, too. That makes him super familiar with Mazdas. Highly recommended. [emoji106]

My 3 graduated from Yojin last year. Reliability rating is high....still drives like new....& this 1 has been my constant RoRoadtrip companion.[emoji4] Maintenance cost is just like any other common nippon. Consumables like brake pads & struts have aftermarket options & upgrades more affordable than genuine. Can't ask for more.[emoji106]

TopGear PH's tip sheet on ceramic coating:
Some brands are manufactured for enthusiasts, while others are made for application by experienced and trained professionals. Expect the former to be more affordable—this may require periodic infrequent reapplication, too. The latter will cost more, with the outlet doing the application possibly being able to offer a warranty on the result as long as certain care procedures are followed. This will include periodic washings and removal of tree sap and other droppings as soon as possible.
In either case, just because your vehicle has undergone the process or treatment it doesn't mean you no longer need to dust, wash or remove bird droppings. You still do. The difference is that maintaining your paint will require less elbow grease.
Is it a good investment? Done right, by a reputable shop, you bet it is.
