227hp for a 2.5L turbo seems a bit underwhelming. I mean, there are some cars with 2.0L that produces way more horsepower than that. I’m guessing the engine might be designed more for smooth cruising and decent fuel economy rather than outright power...

I highly doubt this will arrive here though. We didn’t even get the naturally aspirated 2.5L here.

It seems it will be 227hp if it will use RON 91 regular unleaded and 250hp if RON 95 premium unleaded. But that 420 nm Torque is something for sure.

Yeah. If it’s for a daily driver, it’s not a bad idea. Wish they’d just release a mazdaspeed variant already instead of giving people the blue balls. And hopefully price it competitively in the future. But most importantly, they better bring the damn car here!

Quite a number are racking up those miles. Sky engines debuted 8years ago are the same 1s in all current models except the BT50. They're aging well & surprisingly, unlike DI engines from other makes(think BMW), buildup doesn't seem to bother nor see an observed valve-cleaning interval.... we know they all eventually will. This sample 3, shared below w/ his use/maintenance/service, hasn't seen walnut yet.

Tcm and ecu are separate.. that sucks. My tcm is with the ecu so i wont have that issue.

Did he disable his egr? Does skyactiv-g's have egrs?

Good thing it was just the batt. His car has remained stock. The Sky, being high compression, has an untouchable cooled EGR. It's there to help prevent knock. Below was the Sky Demio pre-launch news way back 2011.

Looks like the car is mostly driven on the highway. They say carbon build up is only commonly seen in cars which are mostly driven for short trips. Severe traffic like ours is considered as extreme driving conditions...

That's what we should be ready for. A coupla buddies long clocked 6digits on their odo here a coupla years ago...they're still enjoying them w/o any noticed perf drop nor had walnut blasting done. Just regular PMS & tranny fluid change on the 1st 100k. Let's see how far we can push the valve cleaning back.
I won't let carbon buildup worry me too much. This isn't like diesel DPFs. Got the equipment & recyclable media long tested & stored in the parts bin.The walnut procedure can look daunting w/o them, but really isn't complicated. The process eliminates symptoms & brings back the lost power & pull. Question is the interval which may vary w/ use/abuse & care.

Shouldn't do any worse than an M6, a CX5 or CX9....them w/ the same engine.
