    Hello Sir Ruov.
I am a newbie when driving a manual tranny sir.
I can't give the exact figures but I have a free 10L from Mazda Pasig which fills up 5 bars on the fuel gauge. From Mazda Pasig to Vikings MOA and back to our home which is also in Pasig but 5km farther than Mazda Pasig, 3 bars po ang nawala considering heavy po yung traffic nung mga roads na dinaanan namin. Nireset ko na po trip computer ko and will do another roundabout this weekend.

Heads up lang po Sir Rouv, underspec po talaga si M/T - plain steering wheel which results to no avg fuel consumption and avg spd sa instrument cluster. I'll try to do a manual computation next time. But when it comes to handling, I was able to easily swerve on the two obstacles we set somewhere safe and secluded area naman po. The clutch is also forgiving and yung gear shifter nya is smooth.

Para po sakin go for the one you really like

Try to do a few full tank to full tank runs to get a feel of the consumption

May I ask for a picture of the dash with the engine on to confirm the existence of a digital tacho? Thanks!

Sir sorry nasa office ako e. Pero eto dash nya
    image1464068432.162271.jpg

See the Mazda 2 logo? Kahit on or off Mazda 2 lang siya
    Wala pong digital tach
Yung right side naman po is divided into three layers
    1st layer is outside temp
2nd layer contains of a static gear shift guide and switchable view depends on what you choose (trip a/b calc, current fuel consumption per 100km, km remaining and odo)
    image1464068842.201219.jpg
    image1464068859.981382.jpg

    3rd fuel gauge.

I do have one issue sa current fuel consumption per 100km wala talagang figures na lumalabas kahit natakbo si car

    *Wishful thinking*

    Hope this helps

Yep I'm aware na na sobrang bare niya, no digital tach, hubcaps, limited colors, and the like. I saw a model sa Mazda Alabang last month. Sayang di ko natest drive pero I went through the gears nung nasa showroom lng and yep it's pretty easy to shift, parang sa suzuki swift but slightly better and 6-speed.

Was only able to test drive the Hatch V AT before and If the Sedan S MT is maybe a few features less but has the same overall feel then I'm okay with it. #budgetproblems kasi e haha.

You just won't find many 6 speed manual trannies here sa pinas of the quality you just experienced at that price.

Anyways how do you find not having a tachometer?

    image1464077201.266751.jpg

Is this correct din ba sir? Hindi ba siya harmful sa engine.

As for a newbie manual driver like me, ok lang po siyang walang tacho since may Gear Shift Indicator siya sa right panel ng Instru. Cluster nya just like this po
    image1464077300.130427.jpg

I'm following the Indicator rather than the speedo for safety reasons na din.
But once I mastered this thing of beauty baka mag-iba din po ako ng method

Buti may indicator pa yan so it's safe to follow it naman. Basta treat the car's manual as your bible. Read through it a few times.

Yung dun sa natutunan mo sa classroom that's just a rough guide and it applies mostly when you're driving on a level surface. Pag incline na medyo magiiba yan.

Sanayan lng talaga. You'll get used to shifting solely on feel. In time mafifigureout mo rin mga sweet spots or anong gear ka dapat magshift at what speed even on an incline.

madami ako natutunan sa kanya na bago even when I've been driving for several years now.

Actually subscriber nya ko and pinapanood ko yung mga how to's and topics regarding manual tranny mechanisms
Yes binabasa ko po yung manual lagi and sinusunod si Indicator for fuel efficiency na din

So sir, have you made up your mind na?
Go for M2! Hahaha btw sir I've got a 15k discount on the srp
Go for the one that your heart desires

Thanks bro. Mukhang shift by sound and feel ka neto. When I drove my dad's MT CX5 for the first time di ko pa rin hinahanap ang tach and I went back to the habit of shifting by feel. Mahirap mag-base on speed dahil conditions will change like weight of the car and road inclination. Tama nga sila makukuha mo rin ang sweet spot nyan after a few kilometers of fun driving

Nope. Mas ok pa nga dahil may tendency ka to overrev which is better than underreving to the point of tope (takatak sound).

Not really. Syempre depends kung ano ung interpretation mo nung sounds and how you act on it. If mali yung interpretation mo syempre baka makasira.

Some tips (pakicorrect na lang ako guys if ever may mali):

    • Avoid lugging your engine. It happens when you're constantly staying and/or shifting in very low RPMs (like yung 1000 rpm pa lang shishift ka na sa next gear or 4th/5th gear ka tapos less than 1000rpm yung tach) Yes, you'll probably save fuel but you're wearing out engine components and linkages faster. You'll definitely feel it at maririnig mo pag nangangatog na ung makina. Personally, when driving in the city, I try to stay at the 2000rpm mark, pag alam ko lang na consistent na yung speed (like sa slex) I allow it to go lower than 2000rpm. (kaso mahirap pala tong tip na to gawa wala kang tach, haha)
    • When moving from a stop, it's better to accelerate faster kesa ung dahan dahan kang magpapabilis (syempre ingat pa rin sa pag arangkada) not only will you move faster you'll also save more fuel this way since marereach mo agad ng mas mabilis yung fuel efficient gears.
    • Take care of your clutch. Practice lessening the time you're pressing the clutch pedals and try to shift faster while still maintaning a proper shift (foot off the gas, press clutch all the way, change gear, foot off clutch, foot on gas). Not only will you feel like a pro racer each time, you'll be saving your car from wear and tear in the long run.
    • Practice coasting to a stop. Pag alam mo ng malapit ka na tumigil (like sa stoplight na orange/red na), malayo pa lang ease off the gas na and let it coast. Kesa ung mabilis takbo mo then magbreak ka lang at the last moment

for now it's best na sundin mo na muna yung static gear shift guide and kung ano-ano ung nasa manual. Masasanay ka rin pagtagal.

    *OT

I'm still deciding kung anong kukunin. Still leaning towards the M3.

May bluetooth capability nga ba yang M2 Sedan S MT?

Nung nag-aaral pa lang ako mag-drive using our old Owner-type-jeep with a 4K engine, I learned to rely on the sound (and sometimes the oil-pressure gauge) when to shift up or down. Alam mo naman kapag "galit" or hirap na yung makina. But a tacho is still useful for those who are into hypermiling.

Sad to say sir wala po syang BT functionality. But nevertheless, M2 base is still bang for buck.
Good luck sir on your Mazda hunting, if you still have questions regarding S M/T tanong ka lang po

Thats why Im relying on the sound of the engine. Only gripe I have right now is hindi pwedeng igaya yung Mags ng S M/T sa S A/T mavovoid daw warranty

Reminder on this advice. Coasting does NOT mean putting gear in Neutral. Putting it in Neutral will consume more fuel.

Yep. Agree on this. And it can be dangerous as well as you're taking some control away from your car. You can just coast by easing or taking your foot of the gas without shifting into neutral.
