September 6th, 2009 04:09 PM #2621i just recently had my carnival's engine overhauled due to oil pump malfunction. it is running smoothly again. however, the mechanic told me that the temperature indicator is not functioning, he is not sure why as it is his first time to do a carnival. when i drove my ride i also noticed that the speedometer is moving erratically (at low speed the needle doesn't move and when it does it falls back to zero as soon as i release the accelerator). the odometer is functioning though. i suspect the problems are electrical in nature. any comments on this?

I have a kia sedona 04 model, quadcam A/T sya na gasoline. Alam ko kung bat walang masyadong bumili nito, he he he.... grabe kumain ng gasolina. I've computed our gas consumption, 5-6 L/km lang sya, city driving.
We're very happy with it though... may dvd player, maluwang, malakas ang aircon, very smooth pang-drive. What more can you ask for?

September 7th, 2009 09:11 PM #2623about the problems i posted, their fixed now. both were electrical in nature as earlier suspected - some plugs were loosely connected.

September 8th, 2009 02:20 PM #2624Good Day.
After reading almost through the pages. Decided to get one. Purchased a 2nd 00 Carnival A/T. Been using it for a month now. Its running great, according to the prev owner belts was replaced but the AC needs cleaning. Had the engine oil change, it consumed 7 liters, wow! I wanted to change the ATF also but sa shell Dexron III lang sila meron. Where can I find ATF that is recommended sa ride natin? How much, how many, pwede kaya DIY?
Have the same problem like what sir utakbo had. The speedometer was running erractic but now its not working at all. What do I need to check or replace?
Thanks and more power!

September 8th, 2009 02:42 PM #2625if you still have contact with the previous owner ask him if it did not had the same problem before, otherwise, have a competent automotive electrician take a look at it. electronic na kasi nagpapatakbo nyan hindi cable. most likely baka pareho lang yung problema natin, baka loose connection lang din

I just had my sedona tuned up at Kia Motors Las Piņas para sa 40k na sked nya. P3,900 ang nagastos ko including the labor. Iba pala ang sked ng gasoline at diesel engines. Ang gasoline daw every 7.5k km while the diesel variants should be tuned up every 5k km. So na-late pala ko ng tune-up ngayon, tapat noong 37.5k km pa lang dinala ko na.
Anyways, manipis na din daw ang brakepads so I had them replaced, 3.9k din ang nagastos ko dun.
Pinatingnan ko na din kung ano yung rattling sound everytime I drove through potholes, mukhang yung engine mounting daw, pudpod na yung rubber nila. 8.9k ang palit ng tatlong mounting excluding the labor (1.4k pa). Di ko muna pinaayos yun.
They also suggested I get an aircon filter dahil wala daw laman yung dapat na pinaglalagyan nya. I told them wala talagang laman yun. From what I've read from this thread, yung mga local na sedona noon tinanggal talaga yung filter para less ang gastos(?). Tsaka di naman ako tumatakbo nang naka-on yung mga exhaust so di ko naman talaga kailangan.
Bale oil filter and oil change lang naka-sked ngayon at inspection lang ng ibang parts ang ginawa. They use Petron's universal engine oil daw, yung pwede kahit sa diesel.
Hmn... maybe next time sa shell na lang ako magpapatune-up. Semi-synthetic na papalagay ko. I wasn't very satisfied kasi ayaw mag-explain nung service supervisor, isang tanong isang sagot tsaka parang nanghuhula lang sya. Tinanong ko kung Dexron II yung nilagay nila na engine oil, then I realized my mistake and was about to rephrase the question pero oo daw Dexron II na yung sa Petron. Ha?

I also told them about my concerns with the battery and alternator, baka di kayanin yung pinaplano kong setup. Sige daw titingnan nila. When the report came in, okay daw ang battery. Wala daw silang gamit to check if the alternator's output is adequate--- wag ko na lang daw lagyan ng iba pang electrical instruments para di ako magkaproblema.
I asked them if they had rain gutters (yung nilalagay sa taas ng bintana para ma-deflect ang rain) wala na daw available para sa old models.

I waited there from 9am to 3pm, umidlip pa ko sandali.
Noong nakabayad na ko at hinahanap na lang yung parking ticket at sukli ko sabi sa kin nung isang employee baka gusto ko daw maghintay sa lounge. WTF! Meron naman pala e!
