Jabr... i think it would be worth mentioning the "highly recommended shop" so all of us would know and will avoid this things to happen especially if the difference cannot be justified.... though, they deserve to have a chance to explain or we can come up with a possible reason for this difference....

Yeah, ok lang naman if you mention it.
Putting a mark up on parts is considered industry norm. Siyempre negosyo iyan. And there is no limit as to how much mark up a shop can put on a part. There's nothing illegal about that. That is why it always pays to shop around like what you did. Ang mas nakakainis ay yung shops na nagpupumilit na palitan mo ang part na hindi naman pala talaga sira in the first place like R*p*d* and Z*f*a.
Edit: some shops that I go to (including shops for mechanical works) also have 'high' (not casa high but still high for that kind of shop) asking prices because they anticipate na tatawad ang client. In the end, pumapayag din naman for rates that are below industry standard.

Otep & E Chen:
Sorry for the late replies guys ha. Well, i must admit na standard industry practice yung pag mark up ng parts, pero it should not be so much (as much as 100% on the evaporator) like what he had charged me, because they already billed me for the labor cost (2,000 including cleaning of the aircon).
How much does a kilo of 134-A costs in the market today? 400/kilo? The specs for the carnival states that the maximum freon charge is 1.5 kgs, and he charged me 1,200 pesos for the freon.
I have posted the price para pag nagcanvas kayo sa mga aircon shops eh hindi na tayo mataga dahil alam na natin ang prices ng parts hehehe.
BTW, you can find the shop sa may brgy. kapitolyo, pasig. Ang name ng shop niya eh sounds similar sa isang part ng katawan natin. Yun na.....

Hi,
Had my aircon cleaned, the shop charged me 2500 and then they noticed that my ride had leaked in my discharge (?) hose that caused to lose freon, they repaired it for an additional 1300. I just don't know if the 105 Car Care in Binan charged me reasonably, although I am satisfied with the way they handled their job. Also, I would like to ask, does anybody notice if their passenger aircon vent is blowing "air" weaker than the other side? What could be the cause? Tia.

hinlog,
I can think of two possibilities:
1. There is a clog, blockage or leak somewhere along the path that the air travels.
2. The vents on the side that has weaker air flow are in the "closed" position.

hello fellow tsikoteers,
I'm also thinking of buying a carnival, and from what i've read here, i'm pretty convinced it's a good buy. What do you think about the V6 variant? i'm considering it as an option also. Hope to hear your valuable inputs soon, thanks in advance!
