Mga sirs, meron bang government-recognised or reputable car inspection agency, or a government-sanctioned individual, sa Pinas, like in other countries?

Normally bubusisihin nila ang used unit to see if it's lawfully worthy for resale. They will inspect everything from bolts, to electronics, to the body, chassis/underchassis, engine most especially, including if the dashboard figures have been re-adjusted, corrupted, altered (and they know it if it has been).... They also know if the unit has been flooded as the original whereabouts of each unit is electronically stored in a country-wide sort of database, and if the area where it came from is flood-prone.... They will also know outright if the car has a standling unpaid loan. They also know if a car had an accident, a major repair etc..... And they they test drive it quite really hard on-road; no offroading of course. Then they will tell you if it's worthy to buy....

i paid around $165 per hour for such inspection. The gentleman did all these in 2.5 hours on the used Grand Vitara that i bought in early 2012. he was the one who stamped the unit that it's worth buying and that it will still give me another 250,000-300,000 km hehe; it was at plus 60,000 km back then.

Baka meron naman sa atin sa Pinas as any buyer (whether in the know-how or not) need such individual or agency (an agency without any need for grease money of course hehe ) since we can't really be sure these days due to many factors....

I don't think we have, sir d_mac: Even if we have, I wouldn't trust my hard earned money for them to accredit the car that I wanna buy knowing how the gov't agencies here work.

I'd rather bring it to my trusted shop or trusted mechanic to do the work. Baka pag sila, kahit ung engine is held by a thread and kulang kulang na ang screws and bolts, papasa padin sa kanila in terms of road worthiness.

Tsk tsk tsk.... Kawawang Las Islas Filipinas.

Anyway chief, i'm not buying 2nd hand units sa ating bansa. We always get brand new units BUT ONLY at the most opportuned time that's why we wait. If i were the gentleman asking about the 2nd hand D-max, and only if i were him, i won't buy a used unit.... But it is his call and i wish him goodluck.

Our trusted mechanics (yours and mine) are not that as skillfull as the others with a certified car inspectors badge. We may feel that our own mechanics or even tuner-calibre friends are enough to assess a used unit, but actually it is not at some more detailed degree....

....But this is only my point of view coming from what i've seen in Philippines and elsewhere ;)

    Cheers!

^^^ Good point. Actually, there are specialize shops that do 100 point inspection but for used BMWs and Benzes. I think they charge 5000 pesos.

Now i know why Isuzu Phils. doesn't wanna ship the real D-max here, and they have darn valid point.....

.... coz the NAIA 1 is yet again the most well loved airport the world over, back-to-back champ!

I got your point in regard to that car certified inspector thing. I really hope we'll have that here too that would cater all brands so that people who want to buy 2nd hand units would know where to go.

I brought my Dmax in Isuzu Commonwealth for its 100k km check up. Grabe ang bilis, 100k kms na. I brought it first to Speedyfix to do the change oil coz I prefer RP then left it in Isuzu Commonwealth for the rest of the service. They have a display of the "Old New" Dmax there, ang ganda! They replaced the wheels with an aftermarket wheels, whew! Astig tignan. Kaso when reality hits you that it has an identical engine as yours, mawawalan ka na ng gana.

Naubusan kasi si Speedyfix ng RP 15W/40 so I tried the 0W/40. Ung 15W/40 nila nasa 600/quartz.

I don't know if it's the oil or because it just had its 100k km PMS or due to the Euro IV diesel, pero grabe, parang naka steriods ung Dmax ko after ng 100k km service.hehe Ang bilis ng acceleration and napaka smooth ng engine.

Ang napalitan lang nila ay bushings sa may leaf spring coz of the squeaking sound.and ung 1 pc of nut and 1 pc of bolt. I spent around 17k+. 7200 for the oil and oil filter at Speedyfix and 10k+ sa Isuzu Commonwealth. Ung usual, change fluids, fuel filter, etc.

At 100k kms, buti nalang at wala naman sobrang matinding problemang hinarap ung truck ko, thank God. And hopefully my SCV will still hold. Nasa 50k+ kms kasi siya noong pumalya siya. So ung ipinalit noon, naabot na niya ung 50k kms.
