How are your trucks, fellow Dmaxers?

    Just sharing.

My truck has reached its 70,000 kms and so far I don't have any major problems with it. Still going strong. No special oil or fluid is being used just the regular oil but I make sure I always do the PMS every 5k kms. My SA has been pushing me to use Fully Synthetic but I said no need since I want to do the PMS every 5k kms because he said if I use fully synthetic, I can do 10k kms for PMS. I feel that 10,000 kms is so long to maintain a diesel fed vehicle considering the fuel quality we have here. The only issue is the MIL didn't disappear anymore after it lit more than 10,000 kms ago.hehe It's just annoying to see it in the dashboard but I don't feel any problem at all. I drove it to Tagaytay, La Union, Ilocos Sur and to a lot of places already without any problem whatsoever, thank God.

The squeaking sound that I was hearing before, the dealer just replaced all the bushings and that was the culprit. Initially I thought it was one of the shocks.

Is anyone here a long time SeaOil user or perhaps Total? Can you share your experience? I have just recently tried using SeaOil for my truck and the same with my 01 Civic and so far I don't feel any difference. We have been using Shell for the longest time then we transferred to Petron and I really felt that the engine's performance with Petron is better. So we transferred to Petron. Then I read that SeaOil is offering Euro 5 so I decided to try it. My initial observation is when it comes to performance, it feels the same for both cars. But the difference is the smell of the fume. It smells a notch lower than with Petron. I will try it for 2 months more and if it gets better, I think I will try using SeaOil from now on. I also wanna try Total.

*somar: I will try to look in my Dmax then I will let you know.

*rectaboy: An '09 model and your Dmax's power steering is leaking already? With regards to your inquiry, since your Dmax is somewhat new, I would rather have it repaired in your dealer especially that you don't know a trusted mechanic. I will just suck up the cost of having it repaired in the dealer than going through the trouble of finding parts and finding a good mechanic.

Since most owners are not that technical, when a problem arises and we go to our dealers, we don't have a choice but to follow their recommendation then leaving us with big expenses. It's even worse if we don't know any other mechanics. With dealers, their is no other way but to replace right away. Well, that is how they earn anyways.

    Thanks a bunch again!
sir nick is correct about cleaning the EGR and sometimes the turbo itself. Im not a veteran just a DIY guy but with a 3.0 engine like this Im afraid touching it. I do not have any hands on yet with these engines and not even see anybody dismantling it. I have cleaned my EGR, cleaned the wastegate and the turbo on my lucida TD 2.2 / 3c engine and became torquey again and smokeless.

but now have a problem. currently purchase one of this and after changing the oil and fuel filter. the engine became sluggish. the enginre remained torquey but would not go forward as before. any input is highly appreciated. TIA.

    Check the new fuel filter.

I am not familiar with the DMax fuel filter per se, but most fuel filters have some sort of mechanical overide built in. If the filter becomes clogged, the filter will be bypassed and raw fuel will be fed to your engine. There may be a problem, there, with the new filter, if it was running fine before.

The problem would be a hesitant fuel supply at low throttle only.

Could it be installed backwards? (Sorry, but I have never seen a DMax filter, but I have seen many, many more)

In the absence of better advice, remove your filter and examine it. There may be something wrong with it....it could have an obstruction. Try blowing through it with your mouth (not compressed air).

Let us know if you find something.

    Ciao!

    Uncle Nick.

    Sir,

I tried to look at mine, the auxiliary fan wasn't moving when I switched the key to ON regardless if I turn on the airconditioner or not. Isn't it that aux fan should only move once the engine is cranked or once the engine is moving to lessen the heat coming from the radiator?

Madalas lumuluwang yun, which tends na ma mis align yung power widow. Ako ginawa ko nilagyan ko lahat locktite or "cutiks" para hinsi magluwangan mga turnilyo due to excessive vibration...
Or check mo alignment baka mali

thanks uncle nick for the tips. i will be draining/bleeding the fuel filter later and check it if there will be diesel or water in it and if not, i will totally take it off and re-install it again just to make sure. but as i remember it right. the fuel filter could not be installed incorrecty. the rubber gaskets are on top and filament is at upright position. ^^

the ride that i have now is just like yours uncle nick (alterra).
    - twas crosswind*sold* yet still have the lucida 2.2td for its comfortable ride.

Guys I'm in the process of buying another pickup. Medyo sumakit ulo ko sa strada because of the choking issue. I know of some friends who experienced the scv issue also sa dmax nila. Resolved na ba ito for the newer models or still recurring? What are the other issues sa dmax? Thanks.
