The Isuzu D-max 2.5 TD Intercooler (single VGS Turbo, rated at 136 hp with 320 Nm from 1400-2400 rpm) is the 2013 Borneo Safari Pickup of the Year.... In summary, Borneo straddles the east of Malaysia, Brunei, and parts of Indonesia's Kalimantan region.
See how amongst other vehicles that participated in this grueling several days of hardcore off-roading, the two (2) bone-stock engine yet only raised-up D-max, were the only ones that came out unscathed and worry-free ;)

Cheers!

December 9th, 2013 08:19 AM #1574Thanks, bro. So the ride is still the same? Way back in 2004 i test drove a dmax 4x2 kasi. Also, yung current dmax now is only the 2nd gen? My neighbor kasi already in his 3rd dmax since 2005. Latest niya now is the boondock. Di ko naman maitanong kung kumusta naman ang ride niya compared to his former 2 dmax. I really want to try dmax naman na 2nd hand since baka next year magdagdag ng pickup for my business.

2004 to 2007, as far as I know, that is the model that uses the 4JH1 TDi engine. 2007 to present, that is the Global Dmax and it uses 4JJ1 DDi Iteq engine.
If you will look, yes, 2007 to 2013, except for the "Old" New Dmax which is the latest model, that is only the 2nd gen Dmax. Boondock is their 4x4 version which also belongs to the 2nd gen.
As to the ride, hindi ako sure if the 1st and 2nd have the same ride coz I don't own the 1st gen. The 2nd and 3rd gen use a commonrail so mas refined na ang takbo and mas mabilis ang acceleration.
The ride of my Dmax pag walang laman is very bouncy. Matagtag talaga. At more than 100k kms, bushings pa lang ang napalitan ng akin, hindi pa nagalaw ung mga links and shocks considering kung gaano kadami ang potholes sa Metro Manila, thanks to the never ending diggings of DPWH and Maynilad. Last edited by rna800; December 9th, 2013 at 01:55 PM.

December 10th, 2013 11:08 PM #1576Hi boss rna! How's your dmax? Have you blocked your egr already?
Guys, any inputs regarding Liqui Moly's diesel purge? Useful ba ito? Has anybody tried it yet? I just thought na 6 yrs na ung dmax, gusto ko sana i diesel purge, description is to clean/free up some carbon deposits on the injectors and fuel line.

Philippine 2013 D-max consumes only 26.12 km/litre as tested by a 3rd party

December 12th, 2013 07:54 PM #1578Nice one sir... I cant believe the consumption of this latest model dmax. If they are saying they used the same engine, bakit ganito katipid compared sa dmax natin na luma.?hehe di kaya may binago din sila sa engine kahit papano?

Also, i saw one hp and torque here long time ago re the old D-max by the chassis dyno (wheel hp) before & after a DPChip diesel EFi kit was installed (i believe that was a record by Berrima Diesel)....
....At the wheels in stock-trim, the 4x2 manual-transmission D-max tested has a bit lesser hp compared to its paper spec, but it produces more torque, say 315 Nm torque than the paper-spec....
Take note that this was recorded from the wheels NOT even an engine-mounted dyno reading and that it (should) loss power from the engine transferred through the tranny and going down to the wheels due to friction coefficient blah blah ahihi, so they say---- meaning it may show lesser torque at the wheels by chassis dyno.... Moreover, this was done in 3rd gear where the ratio is 1.0 : 1.0 between the 3rd-gear and the final gear ratio, or vice-versa.... The peak torque from 1400-3400 rpm at the wheels is slightly downtrend (not flat as shown in the paper) but it's still arguably broad than the other pickup tested, whereas the "other" pickup with VGT showed quite a peaky downtrend torque along the rev-range, almost similar to its paper-spec along the rev-range....
Let's hope that there'll be a chassis-dyno run by the same company (Berrima Diesel) into the near future to see how much this "mala-new" 4JJ1-TC really performs reckoned from the wheel....
Ang dami pang untapped power from our stock engine, kaya tap lang natin.....

December 13th, 2013 09:28 AM #1580How's my Dmax? Ok na ok siya, sir bugoys. The older it gets, the better it becomes.hehe Andar lang ng andar.
I have heard about Liqui Moly's product line and that diesel purge but I haven't tried yet. I don't know if it's useful pero sa tingin ko, if you regularly follow the PMS and change your fuel filter every 10k kms, kahit siguro wala na yan. Pero you can try it so you can share how it affected your vehicle. Sa experience ko, hindi mausok ang Dmax even the Alterra unless nalang na palyado ang SCV and EGR. Paminsan nililinis ko din ang muffler by inserting the hose then rev until 3k rpm, hindi naman ganon kadumi ang lumalabas though hindi totally walang carbon deposits kasi meron padin, hindi lang nga ganon kadumi.
Ung kalampag sa likod, likod as in bed or rear as in rear seats? Pag kasi sa rear seat, check mo baka ung seat belt or ung mga tools under the seat ung kumakalampag. Pwede din bushings pero per my experience when my bushings worn out, I heard squeaking sounds specially when you bounce/rock the vehicle. As far as I know, there is something in the PMS where they tighten nuts/bolts/screws, baka yun lang ang kailangan gawin.
Ongoing problem pa din Pala ito even among euro cars ...
