First week of September daw ang release ng Alterra and the same agent in Alabang told my boss na "merong mas mura kasi may 2.5 na engine." So its either were getting the new engines or they'll put Crosswind/Sportivo's 4JA1 engine. LOL

Me and my boss are both into Alterra, although sa 2nd hand market ako kasi wala ko pambili ng brand new. hehe! And personally, sana new engine na lang sa current Urban Cruiser body ang gawin, parang mas may "prestige" kasi. Especially yung length, which I think only the Everest and patrol can rival.

Length wise ng cabin, Alterra pa din ang longest among its class.

Kita mo yong legroom ng 1st to 3rd row, very spacious.

The luggage space after the 3rd row is also top notch.

My gripes sa mga current coil-sprung SUVs except Eve and Alterra eh they seem to budge when loaded kahit di naman totally loaded - like 7-adult passengers lang eh dapa agad ang suspension. This is very uneasy for long drive tapos malubak pa.

    Sobra lambot ng mga suspension.

I am eyeing talaga the current Alterra or the Eve for utility use. Pang-harabas kumbaga.

Ok lang ako kung current engine. Tested na yan eh. Walang problem.

I have an 07 SF and I never go beyond 120kph sa NLEX. Mahirap humataw pag kasama mo mga loved ones mo onboard.
nagtataka din nga ako, I tried a Montero 2012, Fortuner 2013, and Alterra 2005.

mas malakas parin ang hatak ng Alterra. But when I read the specs, pinaka mahina ang Alterra.

I wonder how many whp the Alterra makes on the dyno. According to Speedlab, the Fortuner 3.0 only makes around 120whp. Maybe despite the lesser outright crank hp, the Alterra has less drivetrain loss?

I read somewhere before (don't remember if from dmax of tsikot) na Alterra/dmax uses the dyno whp while mitsu and toyota uses the theoritical whp. So iba nga kapag na-dyno sila. But it would indeed be nice if the 380nm engine would be brought here na din. kahit de-tuned pa nang kunti to accomodate dirty diesels in the provinces.

    different
-different engine and engine bay components
    -different transmission

anything out of stock is probably not stocked for a reason.

*nels76: Underrated talaga ang 4JJ1 engine, sir. Kung titignan mo ang specs niya, hindi ka mai impress and you will look on other brand na mas flowery ang specs. Pero once you have driven it, diyan mo lang mararamdaman that the engine really means business and it's not something na lalamya lamya dahil mukhang mahina sa papel.

Mas lalo mo pong maa appreciate ang engine niya pag fully loaded and uphill. Diyan ko gustong gusto ang 4JJ1 engine. 2k rpm is all I need to propel the truck. Grabe ang pulling power.

As to the "tested and walang problems", I could say that so far my 4JJ1 is very reliable and "NOT" that problematic kasi siyempre nagka problem din noon. After naayos ung mga tunog noon, ok na ulit. And that is after 6 yrs of ownership and more than 110k kms traveled.

That's why sana dalhin nila dito kahit ung TCX manlang. Imagine an engine that only has 146 hp performs like that, paano pa kaya ung 160 hp na TCX.

Sabi niya, "Ang lakas pala humatak nito." One of his vehicles is a 4x4 Montero GLS SE.

At least dadating nadin ang MU-X on our shores, finally. Sa Thailand lang ang nakakakita nito. Maganda nga siya. It has an appeal that I can't explain basta type ko lang.

I had the chance to drive its twin last week when we visited my inlaws..

TRAILBLAZER 2.8 4x4 AT Red.. Mukha namang okay.. Maluwang ang Loob at Comfortable hanggang 3rd Row.. Shifting is Good-halos hindi mo ramdam..

I ordered 1 unit already and reservation is done.

They call their variants LOW, MEDIUM & HIGH. Agent gave me the price for LOW variant only and for MEDIUM and HIGH will inform me after or during the launching.

They said launching will be this last week of August.

I hope that this horse will not fail me.

I remember the old colorado with 470nm vs dmax with 380nm. The dmax matched the acceleration while returning a better fuel consumption. As for top speed, most of these suvs are capped at 180-190kmh.

    EDSA 0-60 Acceleration:

    0-60kmh: 5s dmax 4x4 3.0 380nm 5at
    0-60kmh: 4.6s colorado 4x4 6at 500nm

(results above are based from motoring.com.au July comparison lol)
