Look at that! No wonder it's tough!
Isuzu came out first with the 8-cross member chassis, not Chevrolet as what is being published by the latter. The 8-member chassis started with the Isuzu Axiom in 2002 that is designed entirely by Isuzu in Japan and sold in the US thereafter. Instead of using a unibody design for its SUV, this kind of ladder-frame with 8 cross members frame is used. The 8-member chassis was adopted later on by Chevrolet or Holden as in the past both companies share Isuzu diesel engines in all 3.0-litre and below diesel models.
For the US buyers even up todate, some of the big displacement engines to 6.6-litre diesel engines are designed by Isuzu as part of the General Motors-Isuzu merger that was once in existence.
Chief Stock Engine,
Any update sa MU-X lately? Kailan darating daw sa Pinas?
Thanks and Cheers!
Safety Report:
The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) today awarded a five-star safety rating to the Isuzu D-MAX ute and All-New Isuzu MU-X seven-seater SUV. This rating applies to all 4x4 D-MAX crew cab variants built from November 2013 and all 4x4 MU-X models.
“This is a great result for the company as we head into an exciting new chapter of our short history here in Australia,” said Isuzu UTE Australia’s Managing Director Yasuhiro Takeuchi.
“More and more businesses in the light commercial market are demanding maximum safety for their employees and contractors through safer vehicles – so today’s announcement will re-open some doors for us in the new year that have been held ajar pending today’s results.
“The five-star ANCAP award for our new MU-X SUV also illustrates our safety commitment to families and 4WD enthusiasts with our foray into the passenger vehicle market,” Mr Takeuchi added.
Cheers and blessed Christmas season sa inyo chief....

"If you want durability, don't go for the timing belt Toyota 3.0 D-4D, go for the direct injection engine with timing chain and gear. And that's the D-max from Isuzu" ;)
Cheers!
P.S.
Hehehe
Yes chain is rugged than belt but gear is more rugged than chain.
Yes metal chain outlast the rubber composite belt. But metallic materials stretches when becomes hot thus affecting the timing and performance. All of those could make the engine erratic.
Dagdag pa natin ang metal to metal link between the crank and cam which could amplify vibration at pati na rin ang frictional loses at drag during high rpm.
The above are the reasons why timing belts made of composite with rubber (a vibration isolator/damping material) was considered and commonly used today.
any new updates on the arrival of this model in our shores? april 2014 still stands?
Bukod sa halos kambal ni Safeguard emblem Chevy Trailblazer, luma pa rin ang makina - still the CRDi wastegate turbocharged 4JJ1-TC standard.... Never that IPC even adopted the previous 4JJ1-TCX VGS turbo engine with the 163 hp and 360 Nm torque so that at least the Philippine-version is just 1 generation behind of the current global engine, not 2 generations....
At a hindsight, glad that i have bought my D-max (pickup equivalent ng Alterra or MU-X) as early as 1st quarter 2008. Modelo pa rin pala magpa-hanggang ngaun (at least its engine) even after 6 years, and still going ahihi
Cheers!
Appreciate the info sir D_Mac, I was actually counting on you and sir Stock Engine to post more info on the upcoming Alterra or MuX. I think this car needs more attention even though its actually a copy of the famed Trailblazer. Nevertheless, it may offer something different plus the fact that my preferred dealer may give me a better offer since were loyal customers. hehehe
Additional question lang sirs, what is actually more durable maintaining in the long run, a diesel engine with a timing belt or a diesel engine with a timing chain? I know most toyota engines are belt driven and isuzus are timing chain but which exactly among them is better?
Not sure exactly though if the MuX engine will have a timing chain or timing belt?
