Hi guys, thanks for the tips on the turbo of the santa fe. I checked the manual of our tucson ix which also has the r-series crdi engine (ours is gas but the user's manual also has instructions for the diesel engine). This is what it says:

    -------
Starting and stopping the engine for turbocharger intercooler
    1. Do not race or accelerate the engine immediately after starting.
    2. After high speed or extended driving, requiring a heavy engine load, idle the engine about 1 minute before turning it off.
CAUTION! Do not turn the engine off immediately after it has been subjected to a heavy load. Doing so may cause severe damage to the engine or turbo charger unit.
    --------

So i guess you can get away with the 1 minute wait for city driving w/o heavy loads but for high speed or long distance drives and when carrying heavy loads or passenger, it's better to wait for 1 minute before turning the engine off to prevent damage.

Gen. Miting, baka kaya nasira turbo ng starex mo ay dahil sa heavy load (a lot of passengers or heavy cargo) at di nagcool down ang driver even though city driving lang siya ginagamit.

Where can I buy the turbo timer pala?

Sayang wala na speed sensing door locks sa 2010 santa fe. I always forget to lock the doors pa naman. Is there a shop that installs this feature?

    Thanks again.

I suggest to equip your car with quality alarm system. Alarm with turbo timer and auto door lock feature. Speed sensing door lock maybe available on premium model?

    Does your car has Immobilizer?

    Thanks for the input bro.

I have not bought a santa fe yet. From the specs in brochure all variants of the 2010 santa fe does not have speed sensing door locks. They all have immobilizers though.

Mas ok pa nga features ng tucson ix and more variants to choose from. The premium variants of the tucson ix has all of the features that I want and more but I need a bigger car for out of town trips with the whole family. The size of the santa fe is just right. I hope hyundai comes up with a premium variant with features similar to the premium tucson ix.

Actually merong speed-sensing lock yang Santa Fe my 2008 version has one yang bago pa kaya. You just need to have the dealer activate it kasi by default its inactive. They need to use a computer and palitan yung settings... You can even choose what speed the lock will trigger...

oo nga hintayin ko na new gen

btw, re: turbo, its no big deal, really. what i do is 5mins to my house relaxed driving, specially inside the village. That's all you need. I'm more worrya about the rubber tube that connects the TMIC to the Intake Manifold. Natanggal na sa akin once so pinalitan ko ng Silicon Hose (sards).

i cant figure out the automatic mode wiper of our 2010 sf, on the manual it says that the interval can still be adjusted using the timer. this afternoon i tried it (raining in laguna area) and the timer seems to be useless...

Hmm. Baka yan din yong nasa 2007 na SF.

Sa 2007 SF kasi ganito -
    - Switch the wiper to low speed
    - Then switch also to lowest on the circular switch.

The wiper is on its slowest speed if the Car is stopped or slowly moving but will switch to speed 2 if the car hits 3rd or 4th gear ata.

but I don't worry too much, I know Hyundai is working hard to met the requirement of their client specially the after sales and besides, the problem of parts of our fellow member is due to third party. Kaya ingat lang sa un-necessary upgrade or better look for trusted tech to do the job

Ok ba talaga ang Hyundai Sta. Fe? Compared to Isuzu Alterra, alin mas ok, yung Hyundai Sta. Fe or yung Isuzu Alterra? Yung price kasi ng Sta Fe na 4x2 na diesel at 1,558,000, medyo malapit na sa price ng Isuzu Alterra na 4x4 at 1,680,000.
