Diba there's a rating on how heavy the SF can tow? nasa Manual ata yon if I remember correctly.

If I am not mistaken, may restriction ata sa license ito diba (towing)? (Please correct if I am wrong).

Doc Otep was talking about towing in a thread before that needed some license restriction but I'm not sure if it's the same for trailers. Sorry can't find it.

Anyway, that would be a nice project.

BTW, how can the trailer's independent brakes be connected? I guess electric thru a socket would be fine since I can't imagine modifying the hydraulic brake system of the SF (didn't notice any connector underneath for it). You might encounter some trouble with warranty (and functional reliability) if you do.

Good luck with the project. Please post pics when you're done. :-)

Sir HP, as far as I have researched, I can only have two options for the braking system.

Hydraulic -this is a self contained braking system. There is no breaching of the main tow vehicle's braking system. It has it's own brake assembly and a master cylinder all mounted in the trailer. It has its own "pseudo-pedal" to apply the brakes when the driver is braking in the tow vehicle. Because of inertia, the trailer will try to push the main vehicle and this is where the pseudo-pedal works in the "link" part of the tow package ie, hitch/mount. It can be disc brakes or drums and is highly recommended for heavy loads like speed boats. This is tunable.

Electrical - this relies on an onboard brake controller in the tow vehicle. The brake controller input is dependent on the brake pedal.
The drums or disc brakes may be actuated through a solenoid assembly link by cabling to the tow vehicles brake controller. This is also tunable and can be used for lighter loads.

Sa palagay ko I might settle with the electrical system as soon as I can find a reasonable supplier. This project may take some time because I am still looking for a good fabricator and ordering materials may not be that easy to procure.
    Thanks.

I helped my friend machine polish ( megs yellow pa and 3m machine glaze topped with s100 wax) his superior red SF, everything went well, tanggal mga fine scratches and swirl marks, but grabe yung hood ang hirap nung mga curves, and upon closer inspection may nakita akong super liit na dots sa clear coat, sa hood and fender area medyo marami, nasa loob siya ng clear coat parang air pockets, sobrang liit lang niya di mo makikita pag di malapitan, superior red owner ganun din ba sa inyo?

gusto niya icomplain sa casa but i recomended na wag na, kasi repaint will never be as good as the orig paint. and sobra liliit lang talaga, mga 20 dots siguro per panel.

Ung antenna pala sa likod ng SF natin is parang stick na winawagayway sa ere pag si SF is running at High Speed na.

    How do I knew?

I was cruising then at 120 then maya maya inunahan niya na ako.

May nagpapabili nga sa akin kaya lang laging out of stock kase dami daw bumibili!

It really works!

OOooopsss... Bad example of a driver! (heheheh)

its a little off - topic... but Hyundai's sister company - Kia has already shown the upcoming 2009 Sorento with a smaller but more powerful engine. displacement is down fm. 2.5li -> 2.2li (same as Santa Fe's).

and there's a slight Power bump fm. 165->185bhp.

and more importantly to me (change of the Valve-train) fm. TIMING-BELT to CHAIN DRIVEN CAM. this will eliminate the expensive Belt/Tensioner/Bearing replacement every 100T Km. also eliminate potential costly engine rebuild incase it snaps before the service interval. haha.

and here's another icing on the cake...the new A/T will be incorporating an extra cog (gear) to 6speeders. as usual Hyundai cars should be getting this as well, hopefully in a minor Santa Fe revision or FULL MODEL CHANGE?

greater or less than symbol in the side mirrors, i dont think that will look cool at all.

naalala ko tuloy yun isang tsikot ng kapitbahay namin, pag nag-preno sya yun rear break light nya may nakasulat na STOP.

tapos lagyan mo ng alarm na nagsasalita, "stand back protected by xxxxx". kumpleto ka na, oldsmobile, este for oldies mobile hehehe

What may be tasteful to you may not be tasteful for others and vice versa...
