Thanks for the replies, DragonHeart and C190! Followed your advice and went with the insurance offered by the casa.

Finally got my black Santa Fe CRDI 4x4 today. Went to the casa to get it around 1:30 and left there around 3:30pm. I tested if the car alarm would work and found that the alarm would activate 1 minute after locking using the remote.

So far, the experience has been great -- the sounds, the ride, and the handling are excellent. Found myself taking longer routes to go my destination so as I can drive longer -- hehe, aksaya sa gas!

Anyways, so far my 'upgrades' are the following: rear sensor (2 sensors), wind visor, mud guard, Bosch horn (sounds like a MB), and Black Chrome tints. Looking forward to getting HID lights and dual monitors attached to the front seats soon..

Going to Subic right after the new year, and I'm tempted to use the Santa Fe for the trip already... Medyo hataw sana sa NLEX, too bad hanggang 80-100kph lang daw ang speed that I can drive my SF at.... Or not? Until when do I need to stay within 80-100?

To all SF owners and soon to be owners, Happy New Year to all of you. l also have a Santa Fe which I purchased last September. I would say that overall the car is good but not worth all the praises which a lot of people already here proclaimed. Less than 2 months the headlights and the tailights already developed moisture which we complained to the casa. They said they already filed a warranty claim so that all the lights affected can be replaced with brand new as they themselves admit that there could be manufacturing problems (quality problems). After more than a month of waiting and frequent follow ups with the casa, nothing has been done. The casa insisted that they cannot do the change unless there is an approval from HARI. Now I have some second thoughts about their boastful 5 year warranty. Looks like it still remains to be proven.

The irony is that one of the fog lights (OEM) which also developed moisture and was part of our complaint, went totally dead and the bulb busted on the X-Mas eve. Worse, it happened during a party when I was invited and friends trooped out to see how the SF look in actual. Lo and behold! one light was dead which was a big embarrassment. When I brought it to the casa to followup for the replacement all they could say was that the parts they ordered for the warranty claim has not been approved yet and they don't even have the slightest idea when it would be approved and the parts sent from the main office from Manila. In the end I have to shell out from my own pocket to pay for the busted bulb of the foglamp which they say is not covered by warranty.
BTW, I bought the car in CEBU. So you guys out there who are planning to buy an SF be very careful with your decisions.

I suggest you send an email to HARI email address, your problem may not be with HARI but with the dealer so its best to go straight to HARI and get an answer from them...

No it didn't develop the moisture all at the same time. The headlights first then subsequently the foglight on the left side and there after the left side tail lights. And no, I'm not a competitor. As I've said I own a brand new SF which I bought just the end of September of this year.

And above is the left side foglight which is not so very clear in the photo but also had the moisture and eventually went dead on the 24th of Dec this year 2007.

That was actually the casa told me that they already ordered the parts via warranty claim. Unfortunately, with every follow ups we made no action happened. Also I asked the SA kung kailan ba talaga darating ang parts and they cannot guarrantee "when". Cguro kapag expire na ang warranty! I wanted a timetable because I somehow have some doubts on the reliability of the lights especially that the foglights at first developed moisture and later went pfffttt.

So with the same situation with the headlights as moisture was our early warning of manufacturing defects, how can I be assured that it would not fail at night while driving long distances. Nakakatakot kung mamalasin talaga at ma busted ang mga lamps. Slim chance of happening all at the same time but when you are in the most unfortunate situation at malas talaga baka mangyari ang matagal mo nang kinatakutan. Kaya ngayon when it rains hard I don't use it anymore. Nakakahiya lang din sa mga taong nakakita nang bagong sasakyan na nag moist ang headlight.

Po. Dinala na po. More than a month na kaming nag follow up but as usual the dealer is telling the same story that na file napo nila ang complaint and the parts ordered but until now nothing happened. There is no timetable kung kailan talaga papalitan.

Sir, salamat po sa comforting words but hindi na ako umaasa dahil pag nasiraan ako nang bulb uli and this time sa headlights na , I have no choice but to bring it to the casa again and have it changed using my own money.
So in effect imbis mapalitan na yong parts na perceived to have manufacturing defects and just because of the delay at dahil gagamitin ko ang car, personal expenses ko yan palagi and at the end of the day, parang wala na ring silbi ang warranty.
At least makakatulong itong problema ko ngayon sa mga tao na may balak bumili ng SF na they better explore first and not to dive in immediately.

No not pressure washer. Normal garden hose na cguro katamtaman lang ang pressure. At kahit umulan lang nang malakas there's already a chance of moisture kaya pag umulan nang malakas tambay na sa bahay.

Have you received any survey form from HARI, yung with free oil filter if you accompliced the survey form-pwede dung ireklamo ang dealer mo at ng ma pressure naman sila?

Anyway as Lui said sked na lang pag dumating na pyesa soonest..

I agree, the minimum is 6 weeks, with a lot of follow-ups. Kulitin mo yong in-charge sa claim dahil kung minsan di nila laging tine-tsek ang mga delivery. Matagal na palang dumating. This is based on my experienced with the casa.
