May 16th, 2009 12:32 AM #45looks like it Sir.
we are also planning to get a new unit this coming JULY but I guess I wont get one from HARI.... maybe PITSTOP is much better than HARI when it comes to "After Service".
HARI should replace the whole engine or better yet, replace the unit with a new one!!

May 16th, 2009 01:13 AM #46I also got our unit from Pitstop, can't really say much about their after sales service because I only brought the van back once for the 1st 1,000km check up. But I remember that they did it very fast, I was in and out in 30 minutes I think.
I decided to buy from Pitstop mainly because of the features in their units that are not found on local(HARI)units. An example would be the glass mounted antenna on Pitstop units rather than the ugly roof mounted ones from HARI units.(this alone was my deciding factor) Another safety feature I found on the Pitstop units is the shift lock for the automatic transmission, I found out about this by accident while checking out the Grand Starex display on the recently concluded Manila International Auto Show(MIAS), I was fiddling with the display unit then i tried to shift the gears without stepping on the brakes, I was surprised that it shifted out of Park inspite of not stepping on the brakes. On my Grand Starex CVX, you not only have to step on the brakes to shift it out of Park, but you also have to step on them very firmly.
Anyway, when I weighed all the pros and cons of Pitstop and HARI, the 5 year warranty was a major consideration for me, but naisip ko nung huli na if ever magka-problema e pahirapan din yan mag-claim knowing all the red tape thats going on in the casa and the manufacturer/distributor.

May 16th, 2009 12:49 PM #49Yesterday, I shared this scenario with my brother who owns a non-hyundai car.
my brother talked to his friend who is a casa manager in Marikina and discussed about this scenario.
the casa manager told my brother that the maximum days they trouble shoot a deffect on a brand new purchased unit is 2-3 days and they do not provide a "service".
they do not have any issues in replacing the engine or worst case, the whole unit if the damage will take a weeks to fix.
my brother was also told that the car manufacturer would spend more $ paying lawyers if the owner will decide to sue them for neglect.
the casa manager also mentioned that there is a DTI ordinance that covers this issue and can be used in filing case against any manufacturers (car).
well, on the other side, unlike other car manufacturer (ex: hyundai), they do not have plant in Philippines and this could be the reason why HARI is avoiding to replace the whole engine or the unit because they have limited parts/units available.
maybe we can inquire with Pitstop Motors this scenario and post here what would be their "action" if they will be the one to handle this kind of case.
...just my 2 cents. PEACE
