Accent 1.4 a/t lang ba affected ng engine knock? Yung m/t hindi ba included since basically the same lang engine nila? So far sa a/t ko pang 2nd fulltank ko na sa petron unleaded and wala pa naman knocking ( knock on wood) hehehe
someone posted a comment here that the 1.6 performs very well because of the Blue technology... not sure if he's an owner though.
Your curiosity has merit since both are bnew models..but obviously it shouldn't be compared with our 1.4L because these two have different engines. It would invariably give a different performance characteristics and response than our 1.4's. Maybe it is better engineered in order to deserve that 'blue' designation and maybe, just maybe a less knock-prone engine. I wouldn't quite spring for the TOTL compact esp when/if price is intruding in the next higher models or kung may comparable or better model sa kabilang brand.
I agree with
airolynx
you should update the system since it is electronic and service center do this for you... do not experiment on gas there is nothing to do with gas. kahit saan kayo magpa gas its ok... kaya lng naman ang dealer gumagamit ng SHELL gas kasi dahil sa ALL shell nag bibigay ng resibo... not unlike sa ibang stations.
mukhang wala na ulit updates ah. totally nawala na kaya yung knock nung mga naka-experience?
kanina ko lng ulit nagamit yung Accent ko after 3 weeks na idle, so far so good naman. hopefully tuloy-tuloy na.![]()
Read the entire thread.
Three people here have reported knock. And each time it has happened on Petron Unleaded or something cheaper.
Using Shell Premium, Petron XCS or high octane gas makes it go away completely.
Using Shell Unleaded makes it less on the first tank, then it disappears afterwards (I assume because the engine is still flushing the old fuel out of the tank).
Shell Unleaded is the cheapest fuel you can buy at Shell. And the engines work just fine with it. If you have to use Petron, XCS will not cause knock.

And this problem is experienced, here and there, by all car makes in the Philippines. The problem is called s***ty gas.![]()
I haven't experienced any knock from my 1.4 a/t accent eversince i got it last april 29.
I only load petron xcs.
It's better to use higher octane fuels sa totoo lang. Pag may long trip kayo try to use the Shell V-Power 97RON or Petron Blaze 100RON.
