To add,
To the Accent owners na naka experience nung engine knock, maybe you can list in this thread:
a) gas station san nagpakarga
b) type of fuel na nilagay
Just so may reference din yung mga future Accent owners na mag pa fill up ng tanks nila.

Just fill up with Shell Premium or V-Power.
Kung ayaw niyo ng Shell, gas up with Petron XCS.
Wag lang talaga Caltex. It's too clean, it evaporates easily. :hysterical: Pati Flying V, mali nga ata yung pangalan nun eh. Dapat Flying $, kasi pakarga ka ng pakarga dahil ambilis maubos or YET Flying Gas.

It's likely that the Accent, having the newest engine of the bunch (the Fiesta is just as new, but fuel economy isn't spectacular), has been tuned to run extra lean at low rpms to ensure better economy.
Now, it's supposed to adapt to poor fuel, but like I said, the onboard ECU and oxygen sensors have a very limited range of adaptation (that's why stock O2 sensors are often called "narrow-band"). If it's beyond the range programmed into the car, then it will cause problems.
If this were a systemic problem caused by very poor programming, ALL or almost all Accents should do it (just as in the case of the Optra). Not all Accents are doing it... so far, we hear about a few units pinging under high load low rpm conditions, which are worst case scenarios when it comes to engine mapping. So my feelings are that it's 80% fuel related and possibly 20% the fault of Hyundai for not making the maps adaptive enough or specifying spark plugs in the wrong heat range for local conditions.
The former can't be fixed by Hyundai, unfortunately. The latter can.
By the way... you can't just use any fuel with the City and Vios. You can't use "Regular" 89 with those cars. And I've heard of complaints of pinging for some Honda owners... but not on brand new cars.

I get your point now niky. Thanks for clearing it out. I guess yung mga Accent owners who experience engine knock can try other gas stations. Siguro nga mga isolated cases ito. I hope our friends here who own Accents with that problem can post here which gas station they used to fill up their cars so we may know.
