2011 Accent AT - Engine Knock!

Hyundai Alabang yun nakausap ko. He was very confident pag sabi nya sakin ng details. "Ban na ang lahat ng ECU updating kasi may padating na latest version..para sa low power issue..".
Nung pagka reset nila ng ECU ko last month, gumanda response and FC, pero aabangan ko pa din tong upcoming update.

Sana next week or early January na yang upcoming update. Nakakainip at nakakainis na.

Update lang. After ko mabwisit sa hyundai greenhills kanina dahil hindi naman ako sinabihan na walang papasok na mekaniko, nagbakasakali ako sa hyundai erod pero fully booked sila. Hindi accent ang dala ko this time kasi may problema din yung isang hyundai ride ko.Nakipag chikahan nalang ako sa SA ko dun. Ang sabi niya LAHAT and quote "lahat" ng accent na nirelease dito sa Pinas ay may engine knock, sobrang dami na daw ang pabalik balik sa kanila pero wala daw solution. So sabi ko eh bakit yung mga bagong batch wala ng reported problems? Ying sagot niya tama sa hinala ko.
1. Either hindi pa lumalabas yung knocking sa iba or...
2. May mga owners na hindi naman alam kung ano yung knocking so binabalewala lang ito.
May mga units kasi like mine na as early as 300kms odo palang nag knock na. Yung iba after a few thousand kms pa. But eventually daw "ALL WILL KNOCk" sooner or later. Kasi iisang batch lang naman daw yang ecu natin.

ehehehehe.. I had my 10K PMS the other day with fully synthetic oil used. And as usual, we have few conversations w/ the "Chief" --> Chief Mechanic ng dealer ko. The highlight of our conversation was a dead accent on the road, they have to tow it kasi the engine won't fire up na talaga despite a prestine condition battery, alternator and the rest of the charging system and sufficient amount of gas.

It's a 1.4AT. After few tires of loading a stock ECM Configuration, nagfire up na. The unit is still in the dealer, because they want to know either isolated case lang or maybe a batch of it is affected. Unit was released July 2011 raw....

OT, just had my central door locks checked. Yung akin kasi ayaw mag trigger nung lock 70% of the time via ignition or keyless entry. Also, i have issue which I posted earlier na pag lock ko, biglang bubukas. May pinalitan yung taga hyundai na parang relay. 10 mins lang ayos na. Good thing I had this fixed early kasi sabi nung Hyundai, 6 months lang daw warranty nito.

And according to the mechanic, this is a common issue of 2011 accent. So get yours fixed immediately before the 6 months if you have this issue.

Correct. The central lock and keyless entry is installed locally kaya 6 months lang binibigay na warranty ni OE Works.

Patay tayo dyan kung lahat. They should at least hold or suspend selling of 1.4 Accent not until they released the new version of the ECU or not until this knocking issue is solved.

Merry Christmas! Hopefully ma resolved na ang knocking issue early next year. Issues like this is not good for Hyundai. Common people will think twice in buying such vehicle.

Update sa fuel consumption ko since being plagued by low power issues, latest fillup 16.6l/100km or 6.03km/l trip computer. 5.3km/l manual computation. O may tatalo pa ba sa akin sa lakas lumaklak ng accent ko? Merry Christmas mga ka accent. May God help us all.

Yes, hindi typo error yan. 5.3km/l city driving for a 1.4 liter engine. Akala ko nga dati record low na fillup ko 5.8km/l. May mas malala pa pala. Eh mas matipid pa ata 3.8v6 na genesis coupe. Yan ang resulta ng low power sa accent. Malakas lumaklak, nung may knocking pa accent ko nasa 6.5-7km/l pako nun. Driving style ko relaxed lang, hindi ko binibirit at hanggang 2k rpm lang release ko na gas pedal para mag upshift siya.

kung sakaling magawa pa, hindi ko rin ibebenta,sobrang laki ng depreciation niya. magiging service nalang ito ng driver ko or pang harabas ko. after 2 years tsaka ko na ibebenta. and ill make sure na hindi na hyundai ipapalit ko. parang sulit yung bagong explorer hehe. kasing lakas lang siguro yun lumaklak ng accent ko. huling nagkaron ako ng gas guzzler yung expediton ko na nakaka 3km/l lang

Hard to say during the holidays. For one, the cold weather makes for crappy fuel economy.

For another the traffic makes it impossible to get a baseline reading.

In holiday traffic, I got 2.5 km/l out of the Explorer. But on my regular route, out of the shopping rush, I got 5 km/l. On one day, same route, the traffic was unusually light, so we got 8. Just two or three stoplights too many during the Christmas season will swing the readings wildly.

The only way to know if it's really doing badly is to go out on the highway and test it, or drive your work specific route come January. Never, EVER trust fuel economy readings during the holiday season.

Hehehe, the last time I checked my consumption, w/c is also a 1.4AT, I'm still averaging 11-12KM per liter as per manual computation. Mixed City - Highway driving (40% City, 60% Highway)...

Eto nag aantay parin ng update. Dapat nga hindi ko na pina update ecu ko. Pero sobrang irritating na kasi yung knocking kaya sinubukan ko. Since the update hindi na bumalik yung knock kahit regular 93 octane nalang pinakakarga ko. Pero ang side effect nga low power. May of last year ko nabili ang unit and 5 months ako nagtyatyaga sa knocking kasi nga ayaw ko mag low power pag nag update. Eh kaso may mga umayos after the update kaya sinubukan ko last October mag update ng ecu. Nawala nga knocking but after a few weeks nag low power siya. Then pabalik balik nako sa casa for the re-update, same scenario, ok first few weeks then back to low power. So i gave up nalang and nagtitiis ngayon sa llw power. Hindi naman siya all the time low power, intermittent naman. Yun nga lang wala na munang racing racing kasi mapapahiya ako kahit sa tricycle pag nag low power mode

Waiting for update or replacement. Kasi as of now wala parin yung replacement. Araw arawin ko kaya yung SA para madaliin yung ecu ko. May napalitan ng ecu dito. Si bro mexophilia. Pati nga aircon compressor pinalitan din. Ewan ko kung maswerte lang siya o may padrino hehe.

Eh before mag test drive ina-update nila kaagad without my consent. Here's the catch, after the update wokwok sound parin so after more test sabi nila compressor daw. So in-order nila agad compressor ko then after a week of the non-consented update low power naman. Ito na siguro ang dahilan kaya na priority yung akin. So they asked for Hari's help na, and as a conclusion replace na daw lahat and after a week they did.

Update, no low power pero sa compressor wokwok eh kasing lakas na ng wokwok yung dati. Pero ngayon parang paranoid ako na di kasing lamig ng dati (given na ang lamig ng panahon ngayon ha?).

Baka lahat ng compressor ng accent puro wokwok sound. Factory defect siguro. Yung aircon ko ngayon nangangamoy sunog pag pilit ko parin binibirit pag nag low power mode. Yung low power ko intermittent lumalabas pero sobrang dalas. Siguro every few minutes of driving and it will last for a few minutes din.
Saang dealer mo nabili unit mo bro? Yung akin kasi tinuturo ako sa erod kasi dun daw una akong nagpa service. Hindi nako pwede bumalik ng greenhills dahil inaway ko na mga tao dun dahil sa isang service related case din last month. (that time hindi accent pina service ko).

di kaya sir wala pa din silang long-term solution kaya ayaw muna nilang mag replace ng ecu. i thought may directive ang HARI na stop muna ang ecu upgrade/replacement. low power ang magiging implication ng upgrade, now sa kaso ni sir mexophilia, humina naman ang aircon. it shows talaga na wala pang reliable solution ang HARI. kaya di ko muna dinadala kotse ko sa casa.

update: v-power gamit ko, not totally na address ang low power pero performs much better than xcs. had a long trip, from manila went to subic then went back to batangas. Thenthru roro, we went to calapan mindoro then by land to roxas pier (126 km) thru Nautical highway. It's a very NAUGHTY (1-way-lane) highway, haayyyy, daming road construction. thru roro again we went to caticlan then to kalibo. i decided to use petron blaze when we went back to subic (same route), daming pataas na kalye pabalik sa caticlan and mindoro, hirap ang kotse. i travelled more than 1000 kms (back & forth). Haaayyy! What An Experience! pagod, di ko na uulitin. okay sana biyahe ko, but when i went back yesterday in makati from subic, i got caught over-speeding, 130-150 kmph, sa NLEX...hehehe. baka lang ma-address ko kasi ang hindi kayang ma solusyunan ng HARI, baka mawala low power.
