Used the GS last Wednesday and this morning. When cold, it's pretty slow, but when fully warmed up, it kicks *$$! I tried going up the ramps when I got home, and when I'd floor the throttle, about half way up, you'd feel the rear wheels acting up. Felt the same thing this morning, but when I was at street level already, it felt a bit more spritely than usual.

Guys, what kind of brake pads are you using on your GS? Anybody using ceramic pads or semi-metallic pads here? What brands do you suggest? We need to change the brake pads of the Starex again. The stock and Bendix brake pads seem to wear out very easily. Is there a pad that would last longer on the GS?

Thank you very much for all the replies and help.

Which reminds me, the pair of front bake pads that I bought from GoodGear some months ago is not shredding so much brake dust as the OEM pads...

Are you experiencing the same thing, bros.?...

OEM Mobis pads purchased from outside the casa. Front brake pads lasted 10,000 kms, while the rear brake pads lasted 15,000 kms. Will observe this further and see if the consumption will be the same. I don't think I'll be going with Bendix pads or a grippier pad for the GS though, because the price outside is not too bad -- at least comparatively vs OEM brake pads for my Toyota. Plus I noticed that the Bendix gets pretty noisy after a few hundred kilometers.

    1. open the lower glove compartment, remove contents
    2. notice the 2 tabs on the side of the glove compartment. from the outside press the tabs inward with a flat head screw driver and slide toward you. the tab has a rubber bumper than you can then press inward, this allows the glove compartment to drop.
    3. open the filter cover by turning the knob on the left hand side of the cover. pull outwards to reveal 2 filter cartridges.
    4. pull out the 1st filter, then slide to the left the 2nd filter before pulling out.

you can then clean the filter. put some water and detergent in a vat (batcha sa tagalog, yung gamit ng lavandera) and soak for a few minutes. then shake it under the water to get rid of the dust, then rinse using a water hose. repeat as much as 2-3 times, using a fresh batch of water and detergent each time. put the 2 filters in the washing machine spin dryer and spin dry for 2-3 minutes.

or you can just buy a new one

    5. clean inside the filter housing with a damp cloth. install back the filter cartridges. note there is an arrow on the filter indicating the air flow direction, which should be from top to bottom.
    6. install back the filter cover.
    7. just push close the glove compartment. the tabs will automatically lock into place.

after ko nilinis yung filters balik na ulit sa dati yung lakas ng aircon blower.

it took me only 15 minutes. magkano kaya na-save ko kagabi? siguro sa casa P1000 na labor only!
    Effective eto! Haha!
Just done this yesterday, balik sa lamig kahit naka 1 lang

With the stock brake pads, there was a lot of brake dust on the rims. But with the Bendix, brake dust was lessened significantly, but it lasted more or less the same as the stock brake pads (around 13T km)

same here, the pads from goodgear are actually clean, no brake dust on the front wheels since. and braking power is just as good, tried and tested at 100kph to full stop last week at zambales when a tricycle made a sudden u-turn without looking.

never tried, bad for the high pressure pump. remember the common rail high pressure pump is cooled down by the excess fuel passed by the pump back to the tank. the less fuel you have in the tank the less cooling effect there will be.

    hello guys,
pina check ko yung gulong ko kanina kasi nag wi wiggle, turns out oblong lahat ng gulong pati spare tire. eh ang kapal pa ng thread at nasa 12k palang odometer ko. sobrang bulok talaga oem na nexxen tires. bakit kaya na oblong agad eh ang baba pa ng mileage? pero the car is already 3 years old. hindi lang masyado nagagamit.

anyway, since papalitan ko narin yung tires, might as well upgrade narin ng rims. im going for 18's nalang. ang suggest sakin na tires 235/55-18. sa mga nakapag upgrade na ng rims and tires, ano ba tamang offset? sa pagkakaalam ko kasi kokonti lang aftermarket rims na pupwede sa GS dahil sasabit sa sliding doors pag mali offset. and how much pala kuha niyo sa 18's rims and tires narin hehe. thanks

You said it Bro Bratski, hindi kasi masyadong nagagamit. In my experience, this lack of use was also what did our Gen 3's tires in. I don't suppose they were underinflated?

For the 18s, I tried 235/55r18. They seemed a bit oversized na. Nawala pati yung porma nung rims. 235/50r18, though slightly shorter on spec is just right for the wheelwell and wheel. They were about P7.6K a few months back for Dunlop LM703 tires. China tires are about half that and up. Anyhow, I'll leave that to you when you get your set.

The rims I got were Advanti Cratos 18x8 for about P35K. Offset wise, about +42 to +45 should be about right. Was not able to check the actual specs on the box so I can't say for sure what the offset is. I saw 18" Rota Grid Offroad rims on a GS. Though they fit, they were sticking out a bit. According to the Rota website, Grid Offroads are 18x8.5 +40 or +45. It must've been the +40 that I saw.

Thanks Bro imm29, my usual tire pressure for the gs is 45psi. What's weird is that even my spare tire which wasn't even used also became oblong.
How's the ride with your setup? Matagtag ba? Tomorrow I'm going to look at some rims, hopefully I can find a set.

Well now that you reminded me, that's crazy that even the spare had the same problem! The only thing I can think of is... it's a sign! Hehehe!

It got a little firmer, but not annoying naman. I appreciated it kasi parang nabawasan yung talbog. Downside perhaps is some additional weight. It's still quick though.

Was able to get a set of 18's kanina hehe. Tried a few rims pero sabit sa sliding doors, in the end ang nakuha ko yung advanti rims, I think same as yours hehe. Yun lang talaga swak ang offset.
