horns, headlight bulbs and the stock 20 watt speakers are just but a few you'll need replaced.
Layo ah! From white naging black. Hehehe! Pero sarap pormahan niyan.
Horns were the first to go for my GOLD unit. No way were those stockers gonna make anyone move aside. In fact, kung sinigawan mo yung pedicab, trike or jeep, baka mas pinansin ka pa.
Went thru a few sets of horns -- 2 pairs of Blu horns, 1 pair of Hella Supertones and currently 1 pair of Bosch Europas - coz I could not find the intimidating sound I liked, which is the Mitsuba I have behind the front grille of my other ride. I'll probably settle for the Europas I have now though as they provide enough power to get you noticed. The Mitsuba's are still bad *$$ though, assuming you get a good copy.
Horn positioning is a challenge for the bigger horns, like the Europa. Some installers have fabricated mounting so that the horns can be placed behind the grille. Some installers on the other hand do not feel comfortable with the location due to the proximity with the radiator.
Lights were next. I ended up with bolt-on HID bixenon projectors for the low beams, super yellows for the high beams and 3000K HIDs for the fogs. I use these fogs sparingly though. Hehehe!
Speakers got changed to Morel Maximo separates driven by an external amplifier. Did that as part of the A/V upgrade. My suggestion is to listen to your sounds first and see if it's enough. I knew the stockers would be the weak link plus kakainin sila ng ampli kaya sinabay ko na.
So how was the weekend for you guys and your Grand Starexes? Ok ba ang mga long drive niyo?
Was expecting ours to get some mileage, but since we didn't do any out of town trips, it just got out for a quick trip to QC last Thursday. Prado got more drive time over the weekend -- Saturday thru Monday.
Our GS travelled a total of 1000km estimate during holy week. Haha. Baguio, laguna, clark. All from QC.
Too much. Pati unichip na P&P same price. So napapaisip ako sa race chip pro since half the price lang. The only problem is, like what you said sa THP, it only dumps more fuel and the higher EGTs might cause a problem in the long run. I've read that installing an aftermarket intake would help in reducing EGTs(wow i never thought my ghetto SRI would have real benefits until i read this) and also a larger exhaust. What do you think? Sobrang kating kati lang ako mag RC Pro kaya kung ano ano naiisip kong gawin sa GS haha.![]()
Bro.,- subukan mo munang magpalit ng Head Unit(HU)... Mayroong mga 52W x 4 na HU locally(Pioneer is one of them)... Kung hindi tama sa pandinig mo,- time to change them, too...
Kaya iyong isang van ang ginamit ko for our other (shorter) travels in Laguna and Cavite....
15.3K:jazzybass:
Mga Ka GS how can i fix my radio HU kasi once i installed the bosch europa
pag nag horn ka nag trip lagi yung HU ko kaya if your watching a usb movie or usb mp3 mag
mag start usb..
by the way my unit is cvx hancars..![]()
sa goldcars banawe ko kasi pinakabit baka madali lang remedyo kahit ako na lang mag ayos if not pababalik ko dun katamad kasi punta banawe
*gunnerjam,
Sulit na sulit ang GS!
I'm curious.
They had a promo toward the latter part of last year, mga P30-35K yung DP Chip, installed na.
If wala, RCP should be ok. I was on the brink of getting one before the said DP Chip promo. What I don't like is having to manually do the tweaking/tuning. Otherwise, if you have the patience, and enough open spaces, it should be a worthwhile DIY/trial and error. I've spoken to someone who's tried the RCP. In cases of 'errors', you just need to back down once limp mode kicks in. I don't think it'll allow you to kill your engine.
So naka DP chip ka na? Pa audi naman haha. Sige sir i'll take a pic pag nakabit ko na ulit yung intake. Maybe this week. About the RCP, may nabasa kasi ako sa SFCP na ang nangyari ata eh nasira EGR and some other stuff. Most of what i read say that 1200deg F daw ang safe level. Meron naman 900deg lang.
Whoa! Really? They were able to trace it back to the RCP? Yikes! I wonder what the local RCP dealer said about those findings. Sige please update me about the EGT gauge. I'm also interested -- for the GS and my other ride.
Prado's been on DP Chip since April 23, 2010. Aba, malapit na pala ang 2nd anniv! Hahaha! So far, so good. The Prado board based in OZ with a lot of DP Chip users on modded rigs was another confidence booster. Mainly short bursts during city drives are what the Prado gets. Perhaps the closest problem I had gotten with the DP Chip was the exhaust after the downpipe detaching after a constant 180 kph run on the SCTEX from Dau to Tarlac. Hahaha! Stress test. Exhaust brackets gave way kaya ang next na bumigay was the exhaust pipe. Anyhow, quick fix, all good again.
For the GS, sure! Let's sked something. I don't know how much the gains are though, coz i didn't have the time (nor budget) for the dyno, but I'm sure there were gains - I would think mostly in the mid range. GS does seem more eager to GO even on partial throttle. I eventually want to schedule a dynotune for the future para ma-maximize yung chip, thouigh I'm probably not going as far as you on GS engine mods ;)
