I guess Honda should start fielding out an MT option for the Civic turbo. To those clamoring for an affordable compact car with a small turbo engine paired with an MT tranny, Nissan is answering their call with a Sentra SR Turbo with a 1.6L turbo engine rated at 188hp/240Nm paired with a 6MT tranny to be released in the US on October. An optional CVT tranny is also available.

Turbocharger & CVT perfect combination to make more profit on selling disposable cars that needs more maintenance and consumes more fuel. Yung mga binebentang sasakyan dito sa pinas mga na recall at di nabentang sa ibang bansa. Saang bansa kaya sunod dadalhin ang mga sasakyang hindi nabenta dito? Madami pa nakatambak (outdoor) unsed old model Jazz at Civic sa dealership. Sinisira din ba tulad ng BMW?

    Pasali mga boss!

Sa Honda Makati ako nakakuha ng unit. Midnight burgundy napili ko. nagpareserve ako 3rd week of May. Then may unit na daw agad as of last week.

I'm not sure whether this is a glitch or a security feature, but, I noticed that when you let your car sit in your garage for more than a day or so, the remote start will not function anymore. It only functions again when you get in your car and start the car normally (brake+push start). But, it can only work within a window of 1-2 hours, after that, it does not function anymore. I did this for 3 days and I began to notice this pattern. I even had the console rebooted by pressing the audio on/off button on the screen and hold it. Nada.

However, when you actually "drive" your car daily or even a short drive around your neighborhood, you won't have this problem at all. I tried this for 2 days and it always remote start without any problems. I even left it for more than 12 hours of not starting it and it remote starts every time.

I read the manual, but, I don't think there is any page with regards to remote start for our version.

Is this a safety/security feature or a glitch?

Even if your dealer checks it, I don't think they will find any problems at all as it will work fine because you have driven the car already. It's only when you let it sit in your garage for more than a day, the remote start is disabled automatically as far as I can analyze. I believe the car is put on sleep mode with minimal function with only the door unlock/lock/alarm on.

    What do you guys think?

I'd venture a guess. Maybe after sitting unused for a day or so, the battery voltage goes below a certain threshold where remote start won't work.

Some systems with proximity sensors turn off scanning after 2-3 days to preserve battery ...

    i think it's a glitch.
i can think of no scenario where it can be interpreted as a security feature.

err.., is it possible that it is your remote that is at fault, i.e., weak battery..?

It might be a design feature. I also have a similar experience albeit with a different brand. The keyless entry will stop working if the car isn't used for about a week. The way to reactivate it is to physically insert the key in the door and twist to unlock then lock it again. HTH

    Update:

I was wiping my car last Wednesday. I decided to open the hood to clean it. I was shocked to find a receipt that partially covered the hood lock. On the receipt are some battery diagnostics - 12.7 volts, amps and some other technical data. Since, I had my first PMS check up a couple of weeks ago, I believe someone from the service bay left the receipt there and closed the hood with the receipt stuck inside. I'm not sure this has a direct effect on the remote start, but, when I left the car for 3 days without starting it, I remote started it and it worked like a charm. I did this the second time, leaving it for 2 days, it still works.

I think for the remote start to work properly, you really need to check whether all doors, trunk, hood and windows are properly closed without any obstruction whatsoever. I even checked the gas lid whether something was stuck in there, like a dried leaf or something.

Anyway, I'm very relieved because I've finally solved the problem.

I really should have double checked everything before I left the service center. Lesson learned. Whew!!

Just tried it on my 2017 RS which is sitting in my garage collecting dust for almost 2weeks now. Been dailying my everest lately since maulan at maputik and mabaha sa province namin. Anyway, Remote start worked fine. (Got the keys, push lock button and then held RS button for ~5sec.)

Please check with your dealer na lang po.
    Good luck!

    QUESTION:

    1. What is the best fuel to use for the 1.8 2017 Civic?
    2. What is the average fuel consumption for the 1.8 2017 Civic? - (mixed driving condition
    3. How do you find the Civic's ride height? Is it too low to drive confidently around Metro Manila?

The Civic is on my shortlist. Thank you.

    1. Any fuel works well with the Civic. I've tried different brands and have observed no difference in fuel consumption and performance. Just stay away from shady stations with questionable operational standards as these have a higher chance of contaminated fuel.

    2. My mixed driving average is 10.784 km/L.

    3. Though the Civic is 20mm lower on paper compared to other compacts, I have never scraped any parking ramp or speed hump even with 5 on board.

What are the other cars in your shortlist?

Just tried the remote start on a 1.8 parked for more than week, and it started fine. maybe its best to ask the dealer.
