For the Touring model (1.5L Turbo CVT), max torque is available from 1700 to 5500 rpm. It is good enough to give the car a 0 to 60mph sprint of 6.8 seconds. I wonder how it will stack up against the Focus 1.5L Ecoboost.
hi guys, nasa magkano kaya yun 1.5 civic turbo pag dating sa pinas? haha estimate lang =)
At 1.2M to 1.3M, the Civic 1.5L Turbo will be just about right in terms of pricing. It will surely make a good competition against current TOTL compacts. Putting it at 1.4M maybe a bit of a stretch but it will still attract buyers. Putting it at 1.5M may not be sound already as you can get a bigger, more refined, and more powerful car with the Accord 2.4L at 1.7M.
However, the best value might be with the lower trim 2.0L models. Getting a new Civic with the improved 2.0L engine in either MT or CVT for a price lower than the current TOTL 2.0L model.
Any news on the tentative release date of the new civic? Im planning to buy a mazda 3 2.0 this december but if the new civic will be release on the first quarter 2016 , i might as well wait for the 1.5 turbo civic
Wow this eats alive everything else in its class. The corolla cant hold a candle to this. And even the mazda 3 will be left far behind. That flat and beefy torque curve is yummy! Power in any gear at any rpm . Sweet.
My dream is they put this engine in the jazz........ heaven!!!!!!

No matter how good this, the world is transitioning to high ground clearance small cars like in futuriustic movies like back to the future or minority report or total recall
Big compact sedans are really dinosaurs, just how apple watch will finally phase out those expensive tags, technomarines collectjons
The millenials will dictate the choices of the future, and from our studies, millenials want multi functional all purpose tools.
Mz3 is beautiful but still few takers
Crossovers will overtake (or already has overtaken) compact sedans in market share. True. But it doesn't mean that the remaining market is small. Manufacturers still compete for this huge space as often times its a buyer's first entry or taste of their brand.
Besides these cars and crossovers share a common platform. Engineered for mass production and product planning flexibility. The civic platform will be the platform for the next CRV etc.
Not every customer is a millenial. Not every customer wants a crossover. The market is diverse enough that products in this class will still sell well. Fyi the civic is consistently #1 or #2 selling model in the USA so you can bet this is a vital car in their product mix.

Turbo makes this happen. The Focus 1.5L Ecoboost even boasts of better output at 180hp at 6000rpm with a torque of 240Nm between 1600 to 5000rpm. With overboost, it may be around 280Nm when crossing 5000rpm up to redline. The much bigger Fusion with the same engine is at par in terms of performance with the usual midsize powered by a 2.4L or 2.5L NA engine.
Small turbo engines are a wonder of sorts. In my experience with the Fiesta 1.0L Ecoboost (125hp at 6000, 170Nm from 1500-4500 rpm and 200Nm at 5000rpm overboost), there is a bit of turbo lag but when the turbo spools, torque delivery is linear making the engine soar its rpm up to reaching overboost then the redline. The quick shifting DCT may be dull at start but quickly changes gears while the tach needle is rising.
I am a bit curious how well Honda merges forced induction with its charateristic feel of crossing between VTEC stages. A Jazz powered by a 1.5L Turbo VTEC will surely be a blast to drive.![]()
