In that case, there's an even bigger discrepancy considering the price of the 8G VTI-L with the 9G 2.0 is the same.

    I was only comparing the 8G 1.8 with the 9G 1.8

Our 9G 1.8 doesn't have any paddle shifter

I also don't understand how Honda price their cars her in PI. Maybe because it's Honda badge so they believe that people will still patronize the product regardless of price increase. Nabasa ko dati ang sabi na "Philippines is a Honda country"

i beg to disagree.... phil is first and foremost toyota country :-)

but i'd like to see the day hyundai overtake the japanese car companies so that the japanese car companies will realize that they cannot rest on their laurels.

Count how many Toyotas you see on the roads, that's more than enough proof already.

The 9g Civic's price should supposedly come down once Thailand production resumes right? But by how much? Any guestimates for the pricing of the asean civic?

Any decent salesman would have responded with "oo naman sir!" when asked that question if even a single unit had been sold. Or even mentioned that reply you have just posted about it being available for only a week or so. My relationship with the personnel at that dealership aside, the fact that I specifically mentioned the grin was "sheepish" is significant.

Bringing US sales into the discussion isn't really relevant to this topic as the US and RP markets are hardly comparable.

I saw four Civic units at that dealership (one in the showroom, three in the bay) ... none of them had been sold. In comparison, the FD Civic sold really fast when it came out. Meanwhile, I have a couple of friends who have been waiting over three weeks now for their Elantras. And its not a supply issue - you see a lot of the new Elantras in the streets.

Just an honest reply to your rather provocative post.

Oh and if you are a Honda Employee, please believe me when I say I am a very good customer of yours. I'm not a Honda hater.

i like it when people makes a complete u-turn. is that you, PP? if you find the response provocative, i will suggest for you to think twice before you post anything silly (make note, i didn't said stupid). how about post something relevant that will contribute to the topic? if you have asked the salesrep why the cost of civic is too high, you might have gotten a positive response.

to your point a salesman being decent, if he said what you want to hear, he is just giving you bs. he is a liar, and i will suggest that you have to avoid that person. you might mean a polite salesrep, well, being polite is not synonymous to being honest. if you live in the world of lies and unwanted politeness, then you better beware of your surroundings. it's good that you have a good relations with your dealership because you will definitely need it. ask them who gave the SRP (suggested retail price and shouldn't that be MSRP -- manufacturer SRP) and why can't they give info about the Invoice price info for each car. just a thought.

why i gave the US numbers, i was hoping you will know that the much hated civic is selling very well outside your country, and it is selling by a big margin compared to its closest rivals. think about it, if everyone hates it, why is the sales figure that high? oh, btw, hyundai's is just half of civic's figure considering it is more "good" looking. i wonder why?

i am not being provocative, and i don't feel i am being rude. i am just giving you honest answers.

lastly, i don't care if you are a very good customer. i don't work for them. just like you, i am in the market for a new car in the PI, and i have to consider the possibilities of sending my cars to PI instead of buying it from the philippine dealerships. the prices of all cars are ridiculously high. what gives?

    Hyundai has a concept car, it is a 4 cylinder turbo-charged engine. i just can't remember if it's a 2 or 4 door hatch.
