Using the shoulder as an overtaking/fast lane

Hp, your post makes perfect sense. the thing is, im already in the outermost lane just about to make the curve towards the tollbooth and here comes a speed demon doing like 120-140 giving me the high beam and honking his horn. what does he want me to do???? accelerate to 200 just so he can move along? talking about commonsense, who does 140 while nearing the tollbooth??? you should slow down coz there's usually a long line of vehicles waiting to pass through the tollgate. i believe it's got something to do with how a person is raised and how he carries himself. rules are not always implemented consistently but a person should be responsible enough to know what's right or wrong.

That is also what I do :D, pero light lang ang tapak sa brake para umilaw lang, not to slow down drastically. Of course naka on na ang signal lights ko.

Don't get me wrong. I have enough years of driving to know that it's easy to lose one's head while driving, especially in our streets. But we always have to have the presence of mind to do the "right" thing and react in the "right" manner. Or at least try...

yup, sometimes it just gets frustrating coz you don't know what else you can do. sometimes i'm tempted to apply the brakes and piss him off by slowing down to a crawl, however that would endanger myself. this is a dilemma indeed. but how much is too much? is this all we do? turn away, walk away? if we believe that rules and laws here are mere suggestions then do we make our own interpretations? no wonder many people turn into vigilantes, taking the law into their own hands because it seems the government and authorities are engaged in more important affairs. these traffic offenses may be deemed light, inconsequential, but the end results can be fatal. if we continue to justify these actions, well, pretty soon they're gonna be accepted as the norms of this society. most of them already are.

At the end of the day, the solution is really proper law enforcement. I can put the burden on myself and "educate" these fools, but the consequences are far too great as we've seen in the countless road rage incidents that we watch in the news. Am I being selfish? Or a coward even? No, I'm just thinking of my family. And if these morons would think of their families too then there wouldn't be too many of them. ;)

survival is the key. that's it. i feel sad though that things which should be deemed normal like road discipline and courtesy are considered rarities in this society.

as I would see it...nangyayari yung mga umoovertake sa shoulder kasi the road is not enough na sa volume of traffic.

and if i were to rant on these people, I would FIRST rant on those slow moving vehicles hogging the fast/overtake lane.
