Huminto ako right in front of the yellow box in manila to avoid blocking the intersection while the light was still green (30+ seconds remaining)

Needless to say, I will be powering through those intersections next time, blocked traffic be damned.

Hehe bad trip, but technically you're not supposed to block the pedestrian lane either. The correct place to stop would be before the pedestrian lane if you can't make it through the yellow box that comes after.

Makes it harder, lalo na kung walang timer yung stop light. You really can’t go beyond the line before the yellow box or block the crosswalk. With a timer, makes anticipation easier. Am I glad I don’t need to drive in Manila. The South is friendlier.

    Not saying you are wrong...

But when you're crawling in traffic and expect to make it through before the 30 seconds are up, it's not the first thing you think of. Yung tipong gumapang ka na sa harap when you realize that any further and you'll be blocking the intersection

And the car was blocking maybe 1/4 the pedestrian lane in the middle of manila where nobody bothers to follow the rules anyway heh.

My mistake for trying? Well since then madali lang yung usapan for me. Not paying the stupid Manila City gov't more money.

    City of Manila --

What is shown on the timer is different from when the signs turn red/green.

What do you do when the light turns red but the timer still says 40 and is in green? After thinking about it, the answer is... whenever any of the lights turn red, you stop... but that's an accident waiting to happen.

    Nasty driving experience

I think the enforcer is just irritated that you stopped to keep the yellow box free. Palusot na lang nya yung pedestrian lane. He has no idea on the law of keeping the yellow box free.

Raket lang yun ng MTPB -- they seem to have teams of "enforcers" going around to catch motorists in addition to the typical traps. Back in ERAP's time, typical traps lang yung meron hahaha.

I've never seen more than 1 enforcer at that place before, and that evening there were like 4. Di ko na inaway.

Isko - good PR but in the end politicians will be politicians. Gotta make money from somewhere.

Got used to it na from being in Pasig everyday. Not at all uncommon to see the entire green go by without a single car making it through the intersection.
When traffic is bad and I can see enforcers lurking I usually just stop and wait until there really is enough space on the other side for my car.

One thing I like about Parañaque, the TEs are more lenient. If you get caught in the yellow, they find a way to get you through. There are TEs on some crosswalks.

Not sure if Pasig traffic enforcement gotten better along with the change in "management", but Manila has certainly gotten worse.

Iba yung disiplina sa selective enforcement.
    Kuliglig, OK!
    Jeep, OK!
    Bus, OK!
    Taxi, OK!
    Motor, OK!
Private vehicle? Nako huli tayo niyan

One of my pet peeves is cars merging on the highway or kahit simpleng zipper lane. If its traffic, alternating lang doon sa lane di pa magawa.

Yes agree wholeheartedly with those not following the zipper lane method of merging. Whether its on the highway or in parking lots nakakairita po.

Another one for me are lane straddlers who take up two lanes. Bonus pa kung mabagal sila!

But I think the cameras for no contact apprehension will still tag you.

Oh I think they understand signs well.

Agree, like "no right turn on red" alam naman nila yan. Kaso bubusina pa rin yung nasa likod mo pag sinunod mo yung rule.
