Well, the Lexus IS350 is on its way with styling surpassing some Europeans, blistering performance, near-BMW dynamics, loads of luxury and comfort, and unparalleled dependability.

Also, cars like the Evo and WRX really make buyers of entry-level German sedans think twice. With the same price, you get more than twice the power, 4WD and the option to go rallying.

As for the Porsche, it's still quite odd why no one made a direct competitor. Like the thread I started about BMW making a true 911 rival, it's a tough job but not impossible. I'd rather that they've built a car slightly larger than the Z4, give it a range of 5-Series engines, including the 500 hp in the M5, and apply everything they know about excellent handling, and the 'bathtub' car will have some serious rivalry, instead of the cumbersome 6-Series. Its questionable looks alone make it hard to justify over the cheaper 5-Series, which has probably the same equipment, dynamics and even more practical and comfortable for the back passengers.

jeez...i disagree with about half of that list. i like the miata, porsche 911, mclaren f1, jag e-type and the sting ray.

i would replace the other half with the e30 m3, lotus elise, ferrari f355, ford gt and lancer evolution (note the bias towards cars with a racing pedigree, hehe)
