Let us simplify the issue here:

You traveled a total of "more or less" 300 km. with the free "full" tank from Ford Global City, and you realized that your FC is less than 10 kpl. You are asking now if your computation is right?

1. My answers would be: Yes it is correct that your FC is less than 10 kpl but it is not an accurate computation but an estimate only. Remember, you were not present when the "Full" tank was filled to the brim or "Full" by Ford Global". Also, your 300 km. trip is a very general statement. The 38L therefore should not be used as the basis in computing the FC, as the "full" tank provided by your dealer may not be accurate.

2. Your eco-driving in going to Tagaytay may be a good start, but the increased FC does not mean something is wrong with the car. You cannot use it to compare with that of the driving you did during the initial "full"tank which was made in different routes. As what lamborghinione said, be consistent in your route. Also try to as consistent with day and time (read: traffic), and the gas station pump used, if you really want to have a accurate or comparable FC.

3. Although the remaining quarter of your fuel, with 285 km. trip on it, may still yield less than 10 kpl, but the division appearing in the Fuel Gauge is not equally divided in terms of volume of fuel inside the tank, hence, not accurate again. Get the FC based on the actual kilometers traveled and the actual liters of fuel used.

It is thus too early for you to have your Fiesta checked by your dealer?

FC computation at this time with the Fiesta is like honeymoon period of a newly wed couple. Its either you have to be precise or don't mind at all.

Honestly, my expectations on the Fiesta as to its FC is decreasing. But then, as the saying goes." You cannot have the pie and eat it too,"

Just my 2 cents worth.

*Onatski, I hope to hear from you on any progress on your FC as I will be getting a 1.4 hatch too.
:2thumbsup:
Ditto, didn't have time to organize my thoughts like this, which you did so well sir.

In early thread before fiesta launching I already said my preference to wait for this econotec variant. Pero ngayon mukhang mag pang-abot sila ng new accent.. Magugulo na naman ang plano ko for the next car purchase
How about posting something on Fiesta Facebook, like "Ford will you bring the ECOnetic model if not I'm considering the Accent instead."

I think the new look Accent is great, hopefully it will not be made into taxis.

Finally I decided to have my 2nd full tank after 2 weeks of driving... Here are the results and they are average to say the least... Unfortunately I was not able to full tank where I had fueled up before cause that Shell station ran out of unleaded... So I had to go to Petron and fuel up Xtra Unleaded...

Total distance as measured by tripmeter = 252.1km (this trip is purely city, purely Quezon City and one trip I had in Makati last Friday which was very traffic since gimmick night)

Total liters indicated by the pump = 28.35L (needle barely above 1/4 tank)

So fuel mileage is 8.89km/L

And for comparison, my average fuel economy via the fuel computer is 12.1L/100km which is 8.27km/L so there is a 7% difference in favor of manual computation over fuel computer...

So far I am satisfied pero I hope this is temporary as the traffic has been bad lately and of course the car being new and all...

I love this post. gives me hope.

At least we all know that you can achieve these FCs depending on what hat you are wearing.

Do you have the Sport variant? Only the Sport variant has a fuel computer... If you do, press the tip of the left stalk until it displays the fuel mileage computer...

Nandun yun sa varying display, the fixed display is the temperature, the varying has everything from odometer, distance to empty, avereage fuel economy, instant fuel economy, average speed and a tripmeter...

Latest FC is 8.2 KM/L which is way below my previous of around 10.5.
With downpour lately making traffic worst, this is somehow expected or is it. Maybe the low FC could be also attributed to the car prodding you enjoy the ‘fun to drive’ nature of it. You’ll end up heavy footed on the accelerator.

1.) Regardless of variant, Fiesta's current FC is competitive.
2.) Looks like the FC gets better over time.

Is this Honda City a 1.3 or a 1.5?

Not sure, if it is a 1.5 then the Fiesta 1.6 is good, same consumption in the beginning even if the Fiesta has a bigger engine.

If it's a 1.3, then that's even worse for the Honda's.

another one, Jazz naman..

Mukang we are at par with the Honda's so far but we are lagging the Toyota's. I have a Toyota and for sure it had a higher mileage even if it was new. My Fiesta 8.8km/L, my Yaris back then higher 9's and lower 10's... Pero FIESTA pa din! Di lahat ng bagay fuel economy, meron ding fun to drive metrics we have to consider!

Thanks wongski and MDA.

the above-mentioned results, of the Honda City and Jazz, as well as of the Fiesta, are below the "acceptable" values. I just hope, it will get better.

As observed by those who drive their cars on the busy M. Manila streets, traffic is getting worser these days than usual as the holiday season is near. This probably explains why the other FCs of the Jazz and City were lower (better) than the FCs registered lately.

However, if we are to examine roybie's record of the actual reading of his City (http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showp...&postcount=468), and reading it from the top, it would seem that his FC got better. Otherwise, if you read it from the bottom, his FC got worse.

Either way, i'd like to think that:
1. The FC got better because it improved as the odometer reading increases; or
2. The FC got worse because of the nearing Christmas season.

I remember someone said somethig in his prayer asking the Lord to 'give him HOPE to keep him going..." Another reason to continue with my Fiesta order.

peace!

I hope it's this one, seems to be like it from top to bottom naman usually ang pagsulat.. From what I am reading, mukhang tama nga na FC usually gets better over time.

Anyway, the Fiesta will not be the most economical, but is at par with competition. Toyota FC may be better, pero Honda (Jazz/City) is my next choice if not Fiesta. So I'm happy that I am still encouraged to get the first option. Jazz is becoming a far 2nd.

But then again, ayan na si Accent!

The Accent also has a 1.6L engine with a 6 speed automatic... Although hard to say at this point I am guessing it also be at par with the Fiesta given those specs...

So vast improvement using FF!
Chuckomenda, if you don't mind, may we know what are your other cars? Just for us to get an idea how the Fiesta fairs with them given they are driven on the same route, and driven by the same person, more or less.

thank you.
