oh ok. that clears it up. thanks for the information. :D

I prefer greater control over my vehicle so I went for the 1.4 MT. No regrets here.
Medyo matagal na since my last manual car...almost 12 years na. Pero kung malaki naman ang masasave ko sa gas expenses with the manual...ok na ako dun. Parang hindi impressive kasi yung FC figures that I'm reading here with the 1.6 considering it is a small car with a dual clutch transmission tapos parang similar lang to any 1.6 car yung figures dito.

I bet you've been experiencing really bad gear hunting during that time. Yes, don't worry yet, it'll improve. Malas tayo with our driving conditions. I peaked at 8 kpl, but am now averaging off at about 7.5 kpl.

*GulongGong, think green. Turn off the engine for idling time more than 10 minutes. Wait inside the building na lang, instead of the car. Kung enclosed parking pa yan, you risk having elevated exposure to emissions.
    Sir,

Parang mas matipid pa fd at es ko po...both are a/t. My plan talaga in changing cars is to save gas...otherwise I'm fine with the civics. I'd like to do atleast 10-13+km/L city driving.

It's really designed for lower FC so di gaano acceleration kapag low gears. Once you hit 3rd then parang nakawala sa kulungan yun fiesta sa bilis ng acceleration. Napansin ko rin na may konting lag (miliit lang naman) sa response time pag inapakan mo ang gas when in lower gears.

    Sanayn lang yan.

I don't know of any car available in this category locally (1.4 or 1.6L) that will do 13km/L in city driving. Maybe a smaller engine/lighter car, like a Suzuki Alto would do it...but who wants that

Your best bet is the Yaris. I have one, 12km/L although its a manual and its rather crude in some places... But if fuel economy is your ultimate goal and nothing else I guess it should do...

Or the Focus TDCi. Powershift rin siya, pero wet-type. They say 10-13kpl is very doable with this car. Mas mahal nga lang...

Or you can go with the other CRDi sedans, such as Getz and the old body Accent.

Yeah two problems with diesel tough. One ACQUISITION COST (or kung mura man aquisition cost, walang safety features) and #2 MAINTENANCE...

Mine is a 1.4 Trend sedan. My other car is a Honda City 2002 Type Z 1.3

Since "fly by wire" na ang Fiesta, It tends to hold back on sudden acceleration. I surmise it is for the benefit of the engine (hindi sya nabibigla) and for better FC.

The analogy I can make is, yung Honda ko parang pang karera, maliksi pero medyo matagdag at matigas ang ride. Yung Fiesta parang van or luxury car ang ride pero none of the snappy response, smooth sya.

At ordinary driving (hindi nakikipagkarera yung other driver sa yo) hindi ka nya ibibitin, taasan mo lang RPM mo before shifting. My experience 1.5 to 2K RMP for best FC, Mga 3K naman or higher for performance.

Sa AT kasi, the computer decides for you.

IMHO hindi pa kaya ng computers as of now to interpret traffic conditions, best judgment re combination of gear and RPM still lies in the hands of a human driver.

Also let me share my own comparison, my Honda City (2000lbs body weight) averages at 12KM/L, Fiesta (2500lbs body weight) around 10.5KM/L.

At present fuel prices (my daily average is 26KM) that translates to about P16.00 additional per day to enjoy the comfort and looks of the Fiesta.

Finally, choosing a car is similar to choosing clothes. It becomes part of your personality. People judge you within 5 seconds they see you and collect supporting evidence to further that impression.

We started our quest for a new car with the Suzuki Alto, which got great FC. It did not make a proper statement to our clients. Cheap ang dating dahil ang emphasis nya is on cheapness

After so many choices, Honda City included, the best combination of budget, FC and handsome but conservative looks lead us to the 1.4 MT sedan.

If you will retain your FD, Fiesta is not for you. Maybe the Accent na I hear matipid daw. FD pamporma, other car for tipid.

yup the old crdi accent, yung pang taxi kung FC ang main concern. forget about porma, safety and features... basta tipid and that's it.

just did 8.66 km/l on my first full tank. it was computed via odometer vs liters to full. trip computer was saying 12.5 l/100 km which equals to just 8.0 km/l.

hope this gets better and reaches at least 12 for me. the beater 94 glxi lancer (manual) i replaced did around 9.4-9.7 consistently.

I was expecting at least 10km/l city driving.

Any body seen how many ford focus M/T tdci are for sale? not that many...

10.5 - 12.5 combo city and highway drive. considering 2.0 yung tucson tapos 1.6 ang fiesta

kinabahan ako bigla ah, this friday na ma re-release yung fiesta ko.

You can't really judge by the initial FCs. If you read through the whole thread, you will find that the FC improves with use. Kapag bago, you're still getting to know your car and your ECU is still trying to get to know you.
