Sirs, I am planning to buy a SUV with very limited budget to purchase. I am choosing Tucson or Escape. Since there's a long wait for Tucson, just wanted to have your opinion on Ford escape 2010 4X2 XLT. Need to know how much is the maintenance cost of the unit. Please advise.

on some head units, the AUX wouldn't function unless there is a wire connected, and another unit is actually connected to the wire (sort of, the connection through the wire has a voltage or something - basta complete circuit)...

so dapat may connect na wire, then i-connect yung AUX unit (ipod or mp3 player), then try the button on CD... baka mag toggle sya between CD and AUX ... or some other button there that somehow indicates change of source...

sa Subaru na hatchback ganun eh.. even if you press CD/AUX to toggle between CD and AUX, it won't go into AUX kapag the wire doesn't have a device on the other end...

2010 Escape owner here, what do you mean autolock? Katulad sa ibang kotse na once you had a specific speed autolock nya door? Wala siya ganun thru remote pa rin. Medyo luma na technology ng Escape bro pero maganda naman interior and exterior nya.

Please join us in Escapezone forum http://forum.escapezone.ph/

    See yah there

Either speed sensing or pag ON mo bago start yung car ay mag-autolock yung doors. I've registered to escapezone as early as April before getting my unit but up to now hindi pa activated yung account ko. Nagregister na naman ulit ako yesterday. Appreciate your help para makaparticipate naman ako sa forum.

Yeap, wala sya ganun autolock sense. If you really want that feature sir, you may trigger that autolock to 3rd party Alarm

Ano pala nick mo dun sa escapezone sir?

mga guys, newbie here. I'm planning to buy an SUV, dati gusto namin tucson gls 4x2. pero after seeing the escape xlt parang mas maganda dahil sa dami ng add ons. and konti or minor lang complaints. my question is saan po mas magandang dealer kumuha? sa ford edsa or global? for better deals and aftermarket service din. tnx

mas ok talaga bilhin ang ford escape ngaun vs. the newer cuv's like the tucson, crv, forester.

imagine since 2002 pa ito, tapos sabi dun sa isang thread you can stretch as low as 979k with all the perks like fog lights, abs-ebd, dual airbags, remote keyless entry and immobilizer

sa dami ng meron na neto, madami na din supply ng parts neto even from 3rd party dealers.

in 3 yrs, magugulat ka na lang you bought a spacious cuv compared to the tuc or the crv kasi sa sobrang curvy ng 2 latter, masikip sa likod or even sa cargo area. kaya nga ako tuwang-tuwa sa 1st gen crv ko eh, it's a bit smaller than the escape but very spacious inside, would you believe I loaded 20 boxes of cpu units inside with the rear seats collapsed.

tapos cuv pa. as population grows and our streets get crammed and crammed, this escape can last you 10-20 yrs more kung usefulness ang paguusapan talaga. that's why i'm really deadset on having a ford escape as my third suv.

in the end, hindi naman fanciness looking ng car mo ang importante, mas maging importante ang productivity ng car mo. parang cellphone ngaun, tignan kahit anong fancy ng top of the lines, more people went back to candybar phones.

this goes the same with the x-trail. i've been observing the tuc lately eh. curvy sya, maporma pero i doubt i can load more than 10 boxes there.

Ford EDSA offers huge discounts! But you may also try Ford Libis, for reference. I noticed also na pertty girls ang mga SA sa Libis!

    * GM: very well said. agree with you bro. given my max budget of only P1.1M for a CUV A/T, i only have 3 choices: Tucson GL A/T, X-trail 2L 4x2 (old model), and the Ford Escape XLT. Among the 3 choice, Escape talaga is the runaway winner in terms of the ff:

    > Ford's proven platform -- they have been around more 8 years already
    > safety - complete ABS, EBD, dual airbags, rear sensors, etc
    > very nice, spacious, and no-nonsense interiors, with leather seats pa! it's more traditional vs the futuristic style of Tucson. I also noticed that the plastics inside Tucson really sucks especially for the GL!
    > more superior audio set-up with its 6 CD in-dash and 6 speakers
    > Loaded features: foglamps, side mirror side repeater, cargo cover --> all of this are not available for the GL variant of Tucson
    > Very huge discounts, with 5 years warranty and free 3-year LTO rgistration
    > FC: i'm guessing the 3 are more or less the same lang naman...8-10km/L ?

I think the only advantage of Tucson is its new and fluidic design (exteriors).

you are comparing the cheapest variant of Tucson with the middle variant of Escape. We both own a 2010 Tucson GLS and a 2009-2010 Escape XLS. We are also looking at the new 2010 Escape and most probably buying (for someone else) the XLT model (that's why i'm in this forum).. and i've seen a lot of these cars. (showroom shopping).

Difference ng Tucson GLS with Escape XLT is just 59k. and difference ng Tucson GL with Escape XLT is 62K - bigger gap. This means XLT is closer to GLS than GL. (it's like me saying i have 10 million, and i'm comparing an Audi with a Cherry - over-exaggeratedly of course - just making a point ).

If 58K is too much, consider the savings on Tucson's Theta II engine fuel efficiency. 6.83 test (9.61 mfg.) on Escape, and 8.21 test (11.49 mfg.) on Tucson. that's huge.

Interiors. To be honest, the only thing stopping us from buying the new Escape is its interiors. talong talo talaga compared sa Tucson. and i would have to say www.motioncars.com agree with me on this one. The problem with asian variants of ford cars is their really crude interiors (like asian Escape and Everest).

also, USB is MORE superior than 6-cd in dash
    1. Storage capacity
    6cd = 0.7GB, 1.4GB, 2.1GB, 2.8GB, 3.5GB, 4.2GB
    USB = 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32GB.
    2. Performance - USB is LESS LIKELY to skip tracks. plus, faster data transfer. pwede pa i re-write ng paulit-ulit.
    3. Physical size and volume - i got one the size of a paper clip.
    more convenient talaga.

exterior, talo rin ung Escape because of its new "honeycomb" grille design. kahit mga sales agents mismo aminado na nahihirapan sila mag convince ng customers with the current Escape. Only stopping us from buying another Tucson is it's availability. Hindi inakala ng Korea na magiging in-demmand ang new Tucson. waiting time now is 6 months.

warranty? as far as i know, Ford only has 3 years and Hyundai has 5 years. If what you say is right, i would like to meet your SA para makakuha kami ng 5 years na warranty on Escape. Kilala ang Hyundai worldwide for its warranty.

engine. Tucson has a more fuel efficient 2.0 while escape has 2.3. it's subjective on the preference for fuel efficiency VS bigger engine. but, the good thing about Tucson is it's 6-speed automatic, with the option to shift manual mode anytime. you can shift gears AT WILL... which i find very useful.

to be honest, the only thing i don't like about Tucson is its bigger 17" mags vs 16" of Escape. because of this, mas matagtag sya... pero subjective rin naman to,, some people prefer bigger wheels din (ung iba nga hindi pa nakukuha ung sasakyan gusto na kaagad palitan ng mas malaki)

59K seems to be a small difference in price... but that is before discounts. escape can have as much as 60K discount with alot of freebies whereas the tucson...as is ang price (1.158M) compared to the escape's, 1.109M less 60K + giveaways in terms of accessories.

Interior wise, it all depends on each one's taste. if you like plasticky interiors by all means choose the tucson, but if you go for the classic simple look with a solid feel of its interior + the upscale look of beige on black then go for the escape.

regarding the warranty, they can give you a very good discount on the extended warranty, as big as 50%. the only reason i didnt get it is matatali ka sa casa for a long time.
i wasn't a fan of the escape before but after i got to scrutinize the tucson and escape. i'd rather pick the latter.

hindi ako naniniwala sa fuel efficiency ng tucson na 8km/liter, A/T kaya yan. stop and go traffic which will be 80% of the time driving here in this god-forsaken streets of ours

yeah. yun lang. in demand kasi ang 2010 Tucson, and the law of supply and demand definitely plays a big role here. that said, there's no point na rin comparing the two since wala na tayo makukuha Tucson.. haba pa pila. 6 months daw waiting.

the fuel efficiency is based on actual tests and experience na rin driving it. depende lang talaga yan sa paa natin at sa dinadaanan na rin.

regarding the USB... maaring subjective na rin sya - may point ka rin sa 32GB - that it is too much. but take into consideration the mechanisms and the whole process in utilizing those two media. i still think USB is more efficient and less expensive - kung nakabili ka ng sasakyan, what is 500-600 pesos for a 4GB USB drive? you only need ONE.

CDs, on the other hand use CD burners which costs more. not all computer systems have CD burners, like netbooks for example. you need CD burners to burn songs (and replace them if they fail which they do). you need to wait and waste precious time while the files are burnt. you will need to buy (or store) CDs every now and then. it's more complicated to burn CDs than transfer files into USB - ask someone who is not computer literate and i bet he will choose USB. these have been my annoyances in cars which only accepts CDs and doesn't even have the option for AUX port.

you don't need to organize playlists in USBs. you just have to sort it out into folders, like how you sort CDs. Think of folders as one physical CD. Sorting is done in the PC-side, NEVER in the car. organizing playlists is (the overrated) APPLE's thing, not USB (AUX, not USB). you can try it by thinking your CD is a 700MB USB drive - it's the same thing - controlling MP3s in the car is THE SAME WAY in both USB and CD (i use both USB and CD simultaneously for my MP3 - which is even more efficient). you can have a folder for alternative, a folder for techno house, etc. no need to eject then play. just press "next folder" button and play. you don't even have to move your arm when you change folders (especially with cars like Tucson GLS - nasa manibela na ung controls). this is where true multitasking comes into play.
