Oo nga. Laging tanong "may manual ba niyan" pero lahat ng sales manager ng iba ibang car dealership na nakausap ko, puro automatic naman daw talaga binibili ng mga tao. [emoji23]

In fact there was a time when we had TOTL manuals - Civic FD 2.0 MT and Lancer EX GT MT. Anong nangyari? Nilangaw.

Moral lesson - wag maniniwala sa mga comments sa internet. Most people don't put their money where their mouths are.

Kumusta reliability ng 1.0L ecoboost? Wala ba issue yung mga dating fiesta?

No engine-related problems for the 1.0 turbo. Only the DCT was shoddy, but all new Fords come with a conventional AT already.

No issues whatsoever with the small yet potent turbo engine. It's one rev-happy engine. The feature I like most is the overboost function where the engine provides extra torque (from 170Nm to 200Nm) when pushing the tach from 4500 to 5000 rpm.

Only caveats are that it consumes gas like a 1.6L NA engine and each oil change requires 5L of fully synthetic 5w20 or 5w30 API SN Resource Conserving oil. If you can keep the revs between 1000 (idle rpm) and 1500 rpm, it will become a bit more economical. The engine spools its turbo after 2k rpm when still a bit cool (with some noticeable turbo lag) but once in optimal running temperature, the turbo spools just after 1500 rpm.

Normal city routes with the DCT tranny is around 8 km/L. On the highway, it is 15 km/L when averaging 100-120 kmh (hataw driving included) and 20 km/L when averaging 80-90 kmh.

Same people who clamor for diesel variants of the vehicles that they want ... Well, the Toyota Vios is also 1M+ already ... So it IS priced like a Toyota Vios ...

If budget permits, I’d get the Coolray over the Ecosport.

Okay din Coolray as alternate ah.
Malapit ang Geely North EDSA at Geely Q. Ave. Okay sana ang after sales service.

Since turbo ito, hindi puwede ang regular mineral oil or semi-synthetic?
Sa mga reviews, wala daw jerks ang DCT nito sa stop and go traffic. May serviceable parts sana itong DCT hindi one-time replacement kung bumigay.

    888K ngayon ang promo.

    https://www. c a r g u i d e .ph/2020/09/get-geely-coolray-for-as-low-as-p.html

Maganda din ang color ng base model na blue (parang Ford blue):

Geely Coolray Comfort - Features and Specs - YouTube

Mahihirapan Ecosport nito. Mas madami pa akong nakitang Coolray kaysa sa facelifted na Ecosport sa daan.
Puro original face na Ecosport nga lang ang nakikita.

I would advice sa Geely North Edsa ka at least under the distributor.

If I understood the article about the launch, ang may hawak sa Geely Q Ave is Nissan North Edsa Management, known to muck up your service works of your car.

Geely opens Q Ave dealership - Manila Standard Mobile.

Nissan Quezon Avenue - Autohub Group

Di ako nagpapaservice sa Q Ave, lagi ako sa Nissan North Edsa because of stories of friends and relatives.

guys, any update on the transmission issues of the ecosport? my tita's unit conked.. showing transmission malfunction error!

barely used unit.. less than 30k kms on the odo.. city driven only!

when i used it sometime last year, i already noticed the transmission seems rough in shifting.. i just assumed it was because of the DCT..

Ford issued a TCM update for all cars with the dry clutch DCT. It is free of charge. You just need to bring the car to a nearby casa.

Sure ba na yung Ecosport ng tita mo is the previous model with the DCT. The newer model came with a 6-speed AT.

For modern turbo engines, low viscosity fully synthetic oil is required. Better be safe than sorry.

One of my senior staff bought a Coolray this year and he had me drive it around BGC. It’s way better to drive than the Ecosport. It drives even better than my ASX. The DCT is much smoother than the dry-clutch DCT of Ford, more like VW’s DSG. The Coolray is pretty darn quick for a car its price - you can’t get any other car with an engine rated at 175hp/255Nm (this is equivalent to 2.4L NA engines on midsize cars and CUVs, or the turbo engines on the Civic RS and Focus Ecoboost) for around 1M to 1.2M.

Yes, wet-type DCT sya as per specifications. The Coolray can do 0-100 kmh in around 8 seconds which is quite quick.

So, avoid autohub dealerships in general?

Up to you, but just to note....

They also operate Ford BGC and medyo talamak parts theft dun. Not sure if sa supplies warehouse lang nagnanakaw personnel dun or kung kahit sa customer vehicles.

But re Autohub, we, as a family, choose to avoid na lang. Iwas sa most likely sakit ng ulo during after sales.

Common sa dry clutch yung clunky feel in slow moving traffic. Marami na yung nasulat about it dito.

The tranny feels like an MT so you have to match the accelerator input within the first two gears. If you drive it like an AT or CVT, it will feel like stuttering while in a low crawl.

Kung tranny failure talaga, di na mag engage yung gears nyan or stuck in 1st gear lang sya. Even worse, ayaw na mag start.

Pero swertihan talaga with all the cars which had it. If you want a Ford car, opt for those with the standard AT tranny. The Focus Ecoboost is a good car but it just happened to have a Ford brand name.

4 years old (technically 5) na yung Focus Ecoboost namin, but the 6F35 6-speed still shifts as smooth as butter even if the ATF has not been replaced yet.

As I believe is what is happening.

Once your DCT starts exhibiting any DCT issue, no amount of TCM update will solve it. So, you not having issues is a "current" blessing as it is more an outlier rather than what was common for the Ford DryClutch DCTs. We all drive our cars differently and subject them to differing conditions, so I can't concrete say your DCT will fail with certainty, just that IF it starts to exhibit any issue, then a replacement is the only way to reset the clock on the transmission.

And, if I'm not mistaken (so correct me if I'm wrong) but... Powershift Dryclutch DCTs don't have advice about TF replacement interval.

    https://www.ford.com.ph/content/dam/...PowerShift.pdf

As quoted : "The Ford Ecosport is filled with transmission fluid for life"

But... on the Ford PH Website... here is the general statement about their DCT.

Ford Tech Features - 6 Speed Powershift | Ford Philippines

As quoted : "· PowerShift transmissions are sealed for life and engineered to last 10 years or 240,000 miles, making them extremely low maintenance."

So either Ford expected previous owners of the DCTs to not own their car beyond "9 years of use" to give such a advice on their Service Interval for the Ecosport DCT model, i have no clue.

Torque converter yung 6 speed ng Focus Ecoboost namin. I specifically avoided Ford's DCT. And now it still shifts like the day we drove it out of casa. No slightest hint of shuddering or slipping.
