My source is Ford Canada since they also publish the curb weight in kg.

2012 Explorer Limited 4WD curb weight: 2,146 kg (4,731 lbs)
2011 Mazda CX-9 AWD curb weight: 2,062 kg

Both Mazda Philippines and Mazda Canada have the same data.
The Explorer is not sold in Europe, so I don't think they would add the 75 kg (68 kg driver + 7 kg of cargo) included by European Union manufacturers.

    Was it from Ford Philippines?
Maybe 2,200 kg is the weight when the fuel tank and other stuff are full? In roadtests the "as tested weight" is usually higher than the manufacturer's curb weight.

Car&Driver and a few others list the limited as 2,227 kg. Others list the V6 AWD at 2,120- 2,160. I think it depends on the trim level.

The Explorer, Expedition and E150 come from the US, though I don't know if they're CBU or SKD. The Fiesta and Ranger come from Thailand. Some Focus assembly goes on here.

Since the locally sold Explorer come from the US, I am concerned with the issues discussed in this forum-http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=152. Is there any assurance from Ford Philippines that these problems have already been rectified? This is the only thing holding me back from buying the new Ford Explorer. Sayang din yung free comprehensive insurance ng BPI!

The Explorer has been in production for 10 months, and 100,000 have already been sold in the US this year.
They've probably sorted things out by now.

The bugs (lag or possibility of freezing) of MyFord Touch seems to be software related.
These kinds of problems are usually fixed with a software upgrade.

Sana nga, it is indeed a very good value for money car in its category and class. It would be a shame if reliability would be a problem.

it's not only the MyFordTouch. The more serious issues are the overheating/stalling and transmission problems in which Ford Philippines doesn't seem to be aware of. I have informed the agent about the issues and even gave him the forum site where the issues are extensively discussed in the hope that Ford Phils would confirm if the reported issues are already fixed in the locally released units.

i decided to hold on to my purchase pending their answer. though i have been informed that my unit will be available November of December on their second shipment.

my dilema is i do not know what else to consider in the same price category... any inputs from you guys?

Its a software issue that can be upgraded, they already did this before with the old Sync.
    Its not an electronics problem.

Well nobody seems to care about it though since its still one of the best selling SUVs in its segment in the US.
