Yung parang disc player na tunog ay yung motor ng vgt na nagcontrol ng vanes. e vgt kasi ang ranger, normal lang yun.

No, it's not normal for a vgt to have that sound. Vgt din naman ang eve at montero pero wala namang ganiang sound.

How true is this? Yung 2.2 ito na 4x4 not the wildtrak.

(quote from Paul Tan's automotive news.

The Ranger 2.2 XL Manual is also a high-riding double-cab 4X4 truck like its XLT and Wildtrak brethren (water-wading capability of 800 mm, ground clearance of 200 mm), but its 2.2 litre Duratorq TDCi makes less power and torque – 125 PS/320 Nm versus the XLT’s 150 PS/375 Nm. It may be 55 Nm down on the XLT, but max torque is made at a very low 1,700 rpm, which is 800 rpm lower than the stronger engine.

Another difference is that the detuned engine in the XL uses a fixed vane turbocharger, as opposed to the variable geometry turbocharger in the XLT. No auto option available for the XL, just a six-speed manual, the same MT82 gearbox offered on the XLT.

Electronic vgt ba ang eve at montero nyo sir? napansin nyo ba ang maliit na bagay na nakakabit sa turbo ng ranger na merong linkage? thats a small motor, yun yung tumutunog sir, pinoposition nya yung vanes sa tamang pwesto when you shut off engine.

Yes thats it. The montero VGT has that also. Its noticeable after turning off the engine. The vanes will kinda re-set after several seconds..

I felt a significant reduction on the engine vibration and turn off kick aftr using euro 3/4 fuel. Not sure if its connected. Try seaoil or unioil

AFAIK, that sound comes from the common rail, i think from the pump. Even the non vgt montero has that sound after turning off the engine. You cannot hear it in some other cars because it is suppressed especially when the hood is closed. My bros sportage does not seem to have this sound when the hood is closed but when it is open, you can clearly hear it.

Yes yes. Sorry for the wrong info (and thanks for clarifying). Just realized its not on the turbo side so its not the vanes. But yeah the sound is normal...

so where is that 'disc' sound coming from? from the vgt homing its vanes or common rail releasing fuel pressure?

*tj abs, do you cool down your engine before shutting it off? baka off mo agad agad kaya ma vibrate?

My ranger just turned 1000kms older. Satisfied with Ford Libis' pms. Pretty much organized and customer oriented. Might stick to this branch for future schedules. FYI.
