Sa Manila Polo Club, buying shares does not guarantee a membership. The membership has to be approved by the members. Kung ayaw nang other members sa applikante, hindi maaaprove yun. Pero pwede hindi rejected ang acquiring shares. Mga alam kong high profile na share holders pero rejected ang membership ay si Aurora Pijuan (former Ms International) at si Rep. Mikee Romero (owner of Global Port & North Port Batang Pier).

give a man lots of money, and see him as he really is.
either he makes a fool of himself...
or he does something good for all concerned.

Reminds me of Pacquiao. I think he sincerely wants to help the filipinos.

Similar to the famous quote "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power"

True enough, a lot of men (and women) failed the test, especially in Philippine politics

    don't believe in campaign promises.
research on the person's previous activities.
that is probably a better gauge of what he will do, once elected into position of power.

    i agree.
paQman wants to help his fellowmen, in my opinion.
even when he was still active in the slugging industry, he was willing to slug it out, just to put on a good show for the fans.
boxing organizers liked him, because he goes in to hit and get hit, unlike other "safer" fighters...

alas, wanting to is not always equated with having the skill to...

    my opinion.

    bakit napunta sa politics?

this is about if money makes one join a certain social class

if money alone makes one attractive para makakuha ng gf / asawa

if we read the title above,
the thread is about how one's wealth and station in life, affect one's choices in choosing a spouse or gf.

    ^^^

actually ung wording ng thread title is more like -- when choosing a gf / wife, factor ba ang social class and education ng babae?

based sa title, hindi ung social class and education ng lalake ang pinag uusapan

if strictly based sa title ng thread -- ung social class and education ng babae ang topic

SO was the reason why I created this thread became he said social class doesn't matter to men, looks are more important daw. What's funny is I've known him for 2 decades and he never dated way below his social class naman

Yung lawyer friend ko naman parang ang taas ng standard ng circle nila (though I did meet him through my friend in my Spanish group and they're a sophisticated bunch) My Paulinian friend's specs is okay naman, it's just that she uses words such as beh, sissy, jowa, bakla, chaka, bet etc. My lawyer friend said hindi papasa sa friends niya. That's beyond social class na kasi my friend has a comfortable life naman, yung vocabulary lang talaga pag nag tagalog.

may nabasa ako in another thread...

nakakapag asawa naman daw mga babaeng palengkera (maingay, magaspang character, pangit magsalita)

syempre anong klaseng lalake naman ang nagkakagusto sa palengkera?

    konyo?

it is sometimes not the background, but how one comports his/herself.

    may kilala kami.
business owner's daughter nag-asawa ng 'hired help' nila.
and it was the best thing that happened to the family business.
this 'boy' had a gift for managing and growing the business!
what started as a society joke in your neighborhood, became the talk of the local business world in a few short years.

    there are always exceptions.
    fairy tales.

    OT.

yes of course doc there are always exceptions

but on average, women usually date within or above their social class

men usually date within or a bit below their social class

    may kilala ulit kami,
    another couple.
the girl married below her so-called class,
    the guy married above his.
while the girl was comfortable in her state, the guy was not comfortable all the time.
that love conquers all, may not exactly be true all the time.
