Remote bypass oil filtration

We recently changed the oil in our Grandia (2.5 D4d) and i noticed that the rubber gasket may have failed on the BT223, or the Toyota mechanic who did the last oil change miffed up the install. The filter was on for roughly a year and two months and 6,000kms (Toyota FS). There were no visible leaks in the engine bay area or where we park the car (save for some oil residue where the filter housing is) and we had to add around half a liter of oil late last year.
