IMHO, it's better on the filter. So that when it's time to change your filter, voila, lahat ng dumi na dumikit sa magnet kasamang matatapon. If you place it in the oil pan, there's a chance na hindi sya ma discharge during oil change kasi nag settle na sila sa bottom not unless kakalikutin mo sila.

I salvaged some magnets from the dead motors of power windows. Its quite chunky and its not quite flat.

I also got a big round magnet from the speaker of an old radio.

turbulent kasi sa loob ng oil filter( madalas may pressure differential) there is a good chance yung naipon na dumi might get dislodge simultaneously during the high revs pag mataas oil pressure tapos bigla bumaba pressure...

sa drain plug which is the lowest portion doon sa engine, especially dahil metal fragments sila, im thinking na doon mag settle...
plus hindi masayado turbulent doon dahil malayo sa pressure differential...

im thinking na yung drain plug doon kakapait yung mga pwede ma-magnet na particles, safely

yun ang rationale ko, although wala tayo definitive proof if even placing magnets does help... kakatuwa lang ilagay, parang it just makes sense hahahahaha...

So kung ganyan ang rationale or theory mas magandang lagyan both yung filter and oil pan. ha,ha,ha

sa filter talagang may differential pressure, lower initially higher on the upstream outside of the filter and lower sa downstream which is inside the filter, and the pressure will get higher as it accumulates dirt.

And I think once the dirt is captured by the filter it will get stucked to the filter, I hope. hehehe

i was thinking, siguro adequate na yung filtration nang filter(good quality) to trap the dirts, kasi im assuming na if meh net effect yung magnets sa particles, yung mga heavy industry OEM's must have installed it already...

Are Donaldson filters made in Indonesia? I know of a friend who just bought one in Volmax and was told that it is made in Indonesia. Anyone with such an info?

Sa pagkakaalam ko, majority made in indonesia ang donaldson oil filter. Pati yung fleetguard na "no country of origin" made in indonesia din.

Thanks for the reply chook, are we safe to assume also that they are quality filters? I remember early on in this thread, dvldoc was comparing fleetguards with baldwins and donaldsons to be very good filters.

Chook, FYI, in page 135 of this thread, according to number001, there is a bad reputation of Volmax selling fake Donaldson filters

    Hi guys!

    Very informative thread.

I'm looking for a baldwin oil filter for dmax 08 4jj1. Do you have any info on that? Tried the links posted on the first 15-20 pages, but to no avail. It seems wala atang gumagamit ng baldwin for dmax, so any lead/s will be appreciated. Called Volmax and Clover, wala daw sila pang truck and heavy equipment lang daw.

    Thanks.
