Managed to buy a "fake" baldwin from Volmax recently.

Some tell tale signs:

> No "Made in _____"

> Different design of cover plate (Check Baldwin website for verification)

> No crimping on cover plate

> Overall dimension is a bit off.

Counterfeiters are a bit smarter now bec:

> Paint job and logos are spot on and even better than genuine Baldwin. But they made a slight mistake on the logo.

> There was computer date etching on top but still is a bit different from the usual Baldwin.

> It comes shrink wrapped.

I will try to post pics soon. I'm sure this forum continues to be monitored by Volmax.

Bound to happen. All Baldwins will have the Made in USA on them or the country of origin period.

Country of Origin - Baldwin manufactured filters are marked with the country of origin. Baldwin has manufacturing plants in the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, South Africa, Morroco and China.

Idol, pwede pa post din date code dun sa top part ng filter. yung parang serial number serial number. i emailed don cross re: this, and just got a reply from him. he is requesting that we send him a photo of the top portion of the filter you got from volmax. he may be able to track the origin of the said filter through the code on top.


Heres his reply.

"I appreciate your concerns with this, could you please take two more photos, one looking down on the top of the filter where the date code is and one of the stamp showing country of origin. It is possible it was manufactured in our Chinese factory but I will be able to tell from the date code. Please copy the date code in text as well in case the photo does not show it in detail. Thanking you for the information. I will get back to you once I follow up.

Genuine Baldwin that are Made in China will clearly have a marking or label on the filter and box (if any).

I bought BF7534 that had Made in China markings/labeling. It looked like one posted in the Baldwin site.

The one I posted above is so off. Its obviously a counterfeit.

today, my monty GTV 2012 had its 20k PMS using Delo 400 oil and BD28 oil filter.

does the fuel assembly of GTV 2012 is different and the fuel filter BF7534 will not fit? the casa technician did not replaced the fuel filter with the BF7534 saying that the GTV 2012 fuel assy is different.

You would have to get the OEM number to cross reference. Odd that they would have changed that since it is a 4d56.

hehe, local supplier of Caltex fluids just informed me they have bosch oil filters already. FF wala.

036 for 4d56 - P340
084 for 4m40/41 - P395

Prices look good considering no more freight. Even our isuzu engines will get to use bosch oil filters now!

those prices are already comparable to manila prices. buti nalang meron na hehe
