Patuluin mo sa fine tissue paper yung oil from dipstick, let it spread out normally at kapag malinis at wala ka makitang metal flecks of any size, okay ang filtration mo at walang metal wear na masyado.

Yun din yung nag-ca-cause ksi ng grainy feeling eh. Yung maliliit na metal flecks.
Hi, I really am not very experienced regarding wear metal deposits sa engine but I do know that if you can see them with your bare eyes, there is something horribly wrong with the engine already. Has there been any documented case like this that has been posted in this thread? I'm quite intrigued.

Sir, na try moba kalugin ang FG filter kung madidislocate ang spring? I guess same batch tayo ng old-stock filter from pacer since ive noticed the rust. When i opened mine, the can is full of rust then the spring is weak (maybe due to age). Hope hindi ma tetanus ang engine mo..hehe Sabagay microglass naman yan, mafifilter nya yung sarili nyang rust.

Shaking does not induce any sound so everything is where it should be inside. :D

As for the rust, it is mostly concentrated on the base plate, which can easily wiped off. Inside there a few 1 - 2 mm sized spots of rusts.

Tissue paper test will show that there is indeed a mjor problem in your engine. But the finger rubbing test will make you feel what you can't see so actually it is a better test of how good the filter is.

Well, if you test out of the sump and feel what seems to be metal particles on the oil, it doesn't mean that your filter is doing a good job. What it might mean is, the oil is not doing it's job or has lost it effectiveness in doing what it's supposed to do....

If you feel metal particles or that sandy feeling, it means that your filter does not filter as much as say bosch, baldwin or fleetguard.

I've tried using Vic oil filters and even after 3,000kms the sandy feeling is obvious already. Guys here who have tried bosch, baldwins and fleetguards does not experience this even fter 8,000kms (i've tried bosch for 5,000kms and the oil does not feel sandy at all).

For the lifespan of the oil or effective oils out there designed for extended drain interval, back read ka and you learn that even mineral oils like delo gold ultra, shell rimula x, mobil delvac mx can be extended to 10,000kms or more depending upon the filter. I admit tht a used oil analysis is best to determine maxmimun usage of oil but HD diesel oils are deisgned for fleet service and can be used up to 30,000kms or more without breaking the oil yet. Again filtration is the key.

So worry about your kind of filter and I assure you that you don't have to worry about extending CH-4/CI-4-CI-4+ API rated oils up to 10,000kms. A few pages back is a picture of sir zix888's baldwin bd28 with Mobil1 TDT 5w40 at 12,000kms. You can clearly see that the filter is not clogged yet and oil is still not jelly like in nature. It is still very fluid.

from pacer. The rest of their remaining stocks of that filter has more rust on the base plate. I got the one with the least amount of rust.

I believe good quality oil (such as CH-4 or CI-4 for diesel) should turn very dark brown after 5,000 kms (good engine cleaning properties) without breaking down (high TBN, Flashpoint, etc.) but it should be paired with a good oil filter (high efficiency rating) to reach atleast 10,000 kms easy.

Thanks Boss Nelany for purchasing the B109 oil filter! Still have one in stock. Wala na pong plastic dahil tinry ikabit. Las Pinas/Makti Area

Wen to Volmax Saturday morning 8AM, walang traffic and may parking na agad :D Got also the BT223 (in box, not wrapped) and BF954 fuel filter for Crosswind.

Yung unwrapped filter (tested, did not fit, unused), sa may interested to get the B109, PM me na lang. Syempre discounted ko na lang ibibigay :D

If ever doc, when will you bring this in? Tried the B109 and it's diameter is bigger (was hitting some tubes) for the NA engine. The diameter of this will fit perfectly.

Cost me Php 601.79 from Motor Image.

    =========

Initially thought B1402 or 1431 would be fine until I found that this new Subaru engine has a

    By-pass valve opening pressure kPa (kgf/cm2, psi) 160 (1.6, 23.2)
    Outer diameter × width mm (in) 68 × 85 (2.68 × 3.35)
    Installation screw specifications M 20 × 1.5
Apparently only WIX made a new filter to be compatible with this filter. WIX 55712

    More importantly it has
    By-Pass Valve Setting-PSI: 23

Hi, You're right that the best option is to have an oil analysis but it would be cumbersome for ordinary car owners like us.

On using an aftermarket oil filter, I was actually considering this but not on extending the oil life but more to provide extra filtration to protect the engine. As it is I have low utilization on my vehicle that 5000km change oil interval will give me more than 6 months.

From this, I already knew that the Baldwin equivalent for the Innova (whether diesel or gas) is BT223. Thanks.

yeah for extra protection it is indeed great to be able to filter those tiny bast*rd$ from our engines.
