Your filter should be the D3311 for the distance plus, But you could use the D3325 as well they are about the same. The Distant Plus out does the Baldwin BT223 by about 2 microns across the board. Baldwin * 20 microns is 98.67 while the distant plus is 99.9 and at 12 microns the BT223 is 50% efficient double pass and the distant plus is 50 % at 10 microns.

So as far as effectiveness goes they are a pretty much a tie. Distant plus is going to cost you more. They normally will not go for under 10USD.

You can get BT223 here for half that. Baldwin Filter BT223 Filter

So price wise I would go Baldwin/ Both of these will do 12500 to 16000 km oil change intervals with ease.

You can also go with the Pureone PL14476 you can't run it as long but it filters even better. But if your just wanting to run 10000 km between oil changes this would work well for you. They run 5usd and under depending if they are on sale.

All these filters are mixed media Baldwin and Bosch are cellulose and microglass (thats why they hold more dirt) and Pureone is some sort of synthetic fiber mixed with microglass. They don't hold as much dirt before getting clogged but filter a bit better.

Yes, I noticed that the Bosch were a bit more expensive, the Pureones the least so. Great info as always, thanks!

Speaker magnets are nothing compared to hard drive magnets of the same size. But it should still pick up a very good amount of particles. If you want to find out the pull force of the magnet you have you have to lift something of a known weight then you will know how strong it actually is. A 2-3 gram Nd magnet can pull 1k* it's own weight Hard drive magnets are stupid strong. Most can hold through your hand.

Bosch filters will have country of origin on the filter just like any other the ones sold there come from Korean/Malaysian and will have a crimps on the gasket. I have no real conclusion on how they come wrapped from the factory most I have seen have just plastic at the bottom which is more of what you see out of China but it could be how they are made.

sir plano ko rin maglagay ng magnet near the drain plug to flush most of the metallic particles during change oil. nabasa ko rin sa ibang forums na recommended nila ay neodymium magnets found in hard disks. based dun sa explanation nyo, pwede kahit ung magnets ng maliliit na hard disks?

As far as putting a magnet on the Pan the only bad thing is if your not using a NEO magnet it can loose pull force over time due to heat ect. The other thing is people rarely drop their oil pan so that stuff stays in there. It's better to put it on the filter or get a magnetic drain plug that way it is getting removed every oil change.

But hard drive magnets are some of the strongest you can find. And they are cheap or in some cases free.

sir ung turo sa akin ay ilagay ung magnet near the drain plug. right before removing the drain plug, tatanggalin din ung magnet so kasamang ma-drain ung mga metallic particles. sir ano po ung ibig nyong sabihin sa "people rarely drop their oil pan"?

actually may ginamit dati ung batchmates ko nung college na strong magnets, industrial grade ata. kulay silver sya tapos almost same size sya ng polo na candy (may hole din sya sa gitna) pero mas makapal sya 2-3 times. sa sobrang lakas nung magnet di sya kayang paghiwalayin directly kapag magkadikit sila, kailangan mo munang i-slide to the side para mabawasan ung contacts nila before pulling them apart. sa pagkaka-alala ko pa nga nag-attract pa rin ung dalawang magnet kahit dun sa patungan ng mga wooden chairs. may alam po ba kayo san nakakabili nito?

Those were probably neodymium magnets which are what's in a hard drive. But use whatever is easiest to find.

i settled down with the speaker magnet since i can't really find a hardrive magnet....i'll just renew it once i change the filter and oil again. i still have 3 in stock....

as per the bosch filter i installed on my truck, they were only wrapped at the bottom with a plastic. not fully wrapped. i can't remember if they have gasket crimps but they were made in korea, it says for the oil filter. as per the bosch fuel filter, it says made in malaysia....there's not even a trace of misspelled words on the carton packaging. yes, i do check also the english construction on the instructional labels of filters and their packaging. may not be a fool-proof check though i suppose..

i changed the engine support of my truck and i had to remove the turbocharger and oil filter to give me full acces to the supports. i observed that the bosch oil filter leaks a substantial amount of oil at the six inlet holes when flipped upside down. could be the reason why the oil pressure idiot light switches off a little bit late than when i was using vic filters. sad to say, i have a spare vic filter and i had to use it since i have no option and it's a sunday.

Sounds like it either has a bad anti drain back valve or is a model that does not have a anti drain back valve and if you have been getting that low oil light on after start up your causing severe wear on your engine from dry start ups.

I would do some research on the part number you have been using. I never use a filter without a anti drain back valve on anything that is mounted sideways or upside down. If the filter hangs strait down it does not require one.

miked, it would be a great help if you can cut the bosch filter open so that we can see whats inside it.

it's a bosch part# 986 AF1 036 (cross of C-306) mounted sideways on the engine (4d56 turbo).....iirc, the vic has a silicone valve (orange) while the bosch has neoprene. the bosch i'm using could be a counterfeit though but as per the pictures posted by one member in this thread, they have the same carton packaging.

Well that's what they look like, They are not the same as the U.S Bosch premium filters and since they are made in Korea and Malaysia they do have the plastic at the bottom of the filter.
