A high tbn doesn't mean its better than an oil with lower. Tbn degredation should be measured. Newer synthetics generally have lower tbn but degredation is better.

Does anyone have a link for the full specs of Top 1 SDO? I know I mentioned the TBN is 11 but this is just based on an earlier post in this thread. I don't know where they got the info. Wala rin kasi sa website ng Top 1 ang full specs.

TBN ng Top 1 na pang diesel ay just 9.+. Available sa global web site nila yung full spec.

TBN, we all know that it is the measure of an oil's alkaline reserve, which is used to neutralise acids and protect the engine.

The higher the TBN the more acid that can be neutralized. In practice, the higher the TBN the longer amount of time the oil can neutralize acids.

TBN retention is what's important as some oils with a lower starting TBN will retain that number for a long time whereas others with a high starting TBN will quickly drop like a stone...

That said, I would like to use oils with a high starting TBN, especially on LSD...

Kung alam mo yung respond the TBN for that of oil brand much better pero normally hindi. So normal lang yung kunin na oil ay yung me mataas na TBN especially na old school yung makina na pag gagamitan mo. Iba na yung approach siguro kung engine mo ay required to use an ulra low sulphur fuel.

RT, saan mo nakuha yang TBN value ng Top 1? Eto yung spec ng Top 1 na ginagamit ko 9.3 lang (5 liter per container). Dito lang ata sa atin available yung nasa lata na Top1 (1 quart).

Thanks for the reply regarding TBN mga Sir. Yes, I agree na important factor ang TBN retention but what if like in the case of diesel wherein the TBN should be in the 10-15 range? Would an oil with a TBN of around 7 but high TBN retention do? How do we know an oil's TBN retention? Is it usually indicated in the specs?

*nelany - The TBN of Top 1 SDO is 11.8, it is a different oil from Top 1 HD.

OT: How do you know if your car requires fuel with ultra low sulfur content? Are these fuels yung V-Power Diesel (Shell), Turbo Diesel (Petron), etc..? I think this was discussed in the other thread (Diesel users that add 2T to their fuel).

Here's the full specs of Top 1 SDO based on the PDF I got from them. Also got the list of authorised dealers here in our area. Props to Top 1 for the quick response and good customer support.

1. HD Synthetic Blend (15W40) = 9.3 (this is the one I'm using)
2. HD+ Synthetic Blend (10W30) = 9.2
3. Evolution Full Synthetic (5W40) = 10.5

yes, Delo 400 is CI-4+ with higher TBN, compared to DGU and MD Mx which are both CI-4 grade.

nope bro, according to google CH-4 lang, at mataas pa yung specs ng DGU CI-4, specifically TBN; 9.5 vs 10.2
