Sir Dieseldude,
is it safe to jump 12V direct from the battery to the fuel cut solenoid valve of the injection pump? just askin in case an electrical gremlin happens to occur with the pump wiring....TIA

HI po mga master,
Di ko po alam kung tama itong pag post ko pero I really wish that you geniuses could advise me what to do.
My ride is an import Pajero, boxtype, 4d56 engine.
Newly overhauled po so within breakin period pa.
My problems are:
1) im hearing a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment;
2) i know its just the break in period, but when I took the SCTEX going to manila from zambales... my ride was having a hard time climbing the not so steep inclines thereat;
My dad (which has a bit more experience with diesel engines than me) said that it is fuel knock.
My ride already has this problem before it was overhauled. I just want to fix the problems of my ride 1 by 1 so that it would eventually be fantastic.
PS: I read in one of the threads that "petron power booster" is good in reducing if not totally eliminating the knocking sound... so please can anyone advice me on all of the above.
Thanks in advance

What did your mechanic have to say about this? He will be in the best position to advise you as he overhauled your engine.

Did you have your fuel injection system serviced while the engine was being overhauled?
My dad (which has a bit more experience with diesel engines than me) said that it is fuel knock.
He could be right.
My ride already has this problem before it was overhauled. I just want to fix the problems of my ride 1 by 1 so that it would eTentually be fantastic.
There was no improvement after the overhaul?

Petron power booster can help. But this is masking the problem, not fixing the problem. A good engine should run well without aid from any additives.
Thanks in advance
You're welcome....
Gud am again sensei dieseldude,

(He said that my engine sounds fine... If i want to eliminate the knocking sound, I should have my injection system serviced.)
2) i know its just the break in period, but when I took the SCTEX going to manila from zambales... my ride was having a hard time climbing the not so steep inclines thereat.

(Not yet... I would if it is already needed.)

(There was. The black smoke was reduced but not eliminated there's still heavy black smoke when im climbing inclines and when im about to accelerate from a full stop... but the torque did not improve, in fact i think it lost a little.)

(As of now... I dont have the funding yet for servicing my injection system... is "petron power booster" a good bandaid solution... and can I use it even if my ride is still in the break-in period?)
Thanks in advance
You're welcome.... (you are really GOD SENT master diesel dude) tnx again

BEFORE DOING THIS, CHECK PUMP TO ENGINE TIMING.
2) i know its just the break in period, but when I took the SCTEX going to manila from zambales... my ride was having a hard time climbing the not so steep inclines thereat.

FUEL KNOCK IS OFTEN DUE TO WRONG TIMING OR FAULTY INJECTOR/S.
My ride already has this problem before it was overhauled. I just want to fix the problems of my ride 1 by 1 so that it would eTentually be fantastic.

CHECK AIR FILTER AND PUMP TIMING.

YES, AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDED MIX/CONCENTRATION.
Thanks in advance

Sir Dieseldude,
I own an isuzu alterra '07. I had problems with my alternator this morning and as the electrician dismantled the air filter and tubes to view the alternator, i saw some oil in the inner lining of the tubes. There is also some oil residue on the turbo assembly. Maybe is is whats causing thick black smoke whenever i reach above 90km/h or 3,000 rpm. Also sometimes while idling there is minimal black smoke which smells like charcoal (not fowl). With these facts what do you suggest i do? I regularly change oil every 5,000 kms and have my 1 yr old original air filter cleaned. My fuel filter was also replaced by isuzu not more than a year ago. Looking forward for your answer
Hi Dieseldude,
I have a question w/c needs your urgent reply. Just bought a Mitsubishi Adventure last Dec 2011 and just after a month, even after the first 1,000km pms, I encountered a problem. One Sunday, it just didn't start, battery is ok, fuel filter is ok but there is no fuel going to the engine. Towed it to the casa, first they told me its a solenoid problem in the shut-off valve then after that, they want to replace the entire injection pump. My worry is this, my car is brand new, doing that makes my engine a repaired engine, is that type of repair grounds for a replacement? I'm not sure you can answer this since its not really a technical question but I'm just hoping you have an idea since you have a lot of experience.
The question should be "magkano ba magpa service ng injectors". Think about this......
1) Injectors and nozzles wear out. This is why spare parts are available.
2) Some nozzles can be re-used, and some just have to go to the trash can.
3) Nozzles coming from poorly maintained engines with very high hours/mileage cannot be put back to service.
Normally, reputable diesel workshops will help you, and they will only replace parts that are found to be unserviceable.
Cleaning can never fix a worn out part.

This is normal. Oil is coming mainly from the PCV and a small amount from the turbo.

Replace you air filter.............

Hi Dieseldude,
A year ago every time my speed reaches 60 kmph, I can already hear my turbo whistling. But now, even I have already reached 120-140 kph di ko na naririnig ung dati nya na tunog. Is it because sira ung turbo? or may kailangan ako na check?
please advise.
Thanks.

Sir,
What's your take on the Bosch CRDi system Foton uses on their 4JB1 turbo motors? Have you had any experience with them already? Anything to watch out for? Are they expensive to service?
The View passenger van is available only with the CRDi engine variant.
